One of our best trips[Linked Image][Linked Image]. We stayed at the Divi (Aruba timeshare swap), where Milty and Doris were also staying. The hospitality was great and we renewed acquaintances with Walter, Geraldine and Marisol, who graciously posed for a picture. Roslyn and I were delighted with the new highway connector that extends from a roundabout on Cole Bay Hill, takes a steep downhill plunge and connects with the Belair, Divi, Phillipsburg area.
Although it was one the same night as a Divi party, I made it to the TTOL party at the Peg Leg. The food and company were great![Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image] Met Contessa, and Bob. Also met a couple from Butler PA who had formerly worked at AK Steel in Butler, who knew where Middletown, Ohio was (home of AK Steel). The husband was a double for Bill Clinton (he's a Republican). Also a couple from Dearborn, MI. We ate again at the Peg Leg later in the week. Food and service were great.
I never take enough pictures. I did get pictures of St. Barts from Dawn Beach. Also, Saba was more clear than I ever remembered and got a picture.
I am a beach nut and went to 14 beaches, if only briefly. The best new (to me) beach was Happy Beach, which is gorgeous and well worth the effort to get there. I met an Englishman on the path there who gave me encouragement and directions. My sentimental favorite beach is Mullet, which my son and I visited on our first ( and only) cruise in 1992, while the Mullet Bay Resort was in full swing, while my wife and daughter explored the shops of Phillipsburg. Other favorites were Cupecoy, where I met Don & Holly ( and tried to convert them to TTOL),
Plum, and Orient. Had no luck in blackjack at Casino Royale, where I experienced losing $60 in about 7 minutes (my first losing experience) but had better luck on those silly mechanical horses that race around the track.
We rented a Toyoto Carolla from Thrifty, in advance, and had good luck with the vehicle. This time I did not try to
drive to the top of Paradise Pic, which is rather hard on alignments. The island should try to improve and pave this road to the top, to develope it as a tourist attraction???
Had a delicious treat in Marigot, a cocoanut shake, which is sold out of a kiosk in the center of town. Very refreshing!!!
In sum, we met more people on this trip than any other, and found everyone to be a personal highlight. We will be back in April 2005. Hope to see you there
[Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image]
