First time posting a report and first time trip to the island other than stopping for the day on a cruise ship...
Sat 5/3/03: Arrived via Delta at 2pm and waited in long line a immigration that was out the door ..then on to collect luggage and into cab to the Pelican. Checked into our one-bedroom in C building (top of the hill..great week for the thighs and calfs!). Put on our suits and went in seach of the beach and beach bar! Meet JD (Ruralcarrier) and Patty then John (retire13) and his wife Diane at the bar. Made plans with John & his wife to go to the Greenhouse for dinner that night. Very nice (2 for 1 drinks very weak) dinner then early to bed.
Sunday 5/4/03: Got up early and had coffee on the patio overlooking the harbour and made plans to go to Mullet beach since we didn't like the one at the Pelican. It was $5.00 per person for the cab/van and we made arrangements for him to pick us back up at 3pm. Had lunch at Rosies and a few Caribs and Tings..not a bad day. Thought the beach was really nice. Made plans to hit SUnset Beach bar for about 1/2 hour then JD & John picked us up and took us to Mary Boons for a drink and to meet Dicky & Frank! Frank was having a very antisocial night but his human companion more than made up for it! What a drink! Got to Meet JD's wife and Wendell there. What a great setting Mary Boons has! Would love to spend a week at this resort next time. We kicked around ideas for dinner and then were loaded into cars to go to some restaurant in Marigot (don't recall the name but ruralcarreir mentioned it in his report..it wasn't memorable!) Such is life, you're on vacation and nothing can get me too upset). The company was memorable though and really made for a great night!

Monday 5/5: Had coffe & breakfast on the pation, it rained for about 10 minutes and we decided today was the day to head into Town for some shopping. Spent a couple of hours there then back to the hotel to have bread & cheese and Caribs on the patio and a dip in the pool. Went on the Sunset Cruise and got to meet a lot of great people, do a little dancing ..had grat fun..then on to Peg Legs for dinner. They were all ready for us when we arrived and the service and food couldn't have been any better (Great choice John!) Maryphilly and her extended party showed up and entertained us even further! Glad to know a good time was had by all and that PegLeg sold a lot of Thongs that night.

Tuesday 5/6: Me met up with John and Diane and they graciously took us to Orient at Bikin Beach for the day. Another nice beach with a light breeze. Doesn't get much better than this[Linked Image].Had lunch at Bikini Beach; John had Mr. St. Maartin cards so we got free beach chairs if we had lunch there (came with free rum punches too) and it was great. Left the beach around 4:30 and went to grocery stor and picked up more cheese, bread, pepperoni and Etna ice cream;headed back to the Pelican to shower and change and then went to John and Dianes townhouse to have dinner and caribs on their deck overlooking the harbour. Really had a great night and what wonderful hosts they were. The Etna ice cream was a big hit (we had Rum Raisin and strawberry).

Will write more when I get caught up at work......
