Feb 25 Our Last Day in Paradise
It’s no secret Kim and I love the Windwards to us this is the Caribbean, it has everything we dream of, secluded beaches, abundant nature and wonderful people that we can truly say are our friends; and very little of what we don’t care for, beaches lined with high rise hotels, crowds, endless traffic and over commercialization. Everyone has their own vision of paradise, my older brother would shoot himself out of boredom after two days down here, but for us it’s perfect. Tomorrow Kim goes back to Buffalo and I head for the Heineken Regatta in St. Maarten, so we decided to make it a lazy day at the beach where she can warm her bones one final time before returning to the cold and snow. We did our usual morning routine, a walk and breakfast at Rituals before packing our stuff for a day at Reduit Beach. We got our beach chairs and just spent the day with her sunning herself and me swimming and walking around the beach. I don’t know how she does it but she has almost caught up to me tan wise. Around early evening we went back to the room to change then headed off for dinner. We had planned on eating at Buzz, but they are closed on Mondays so we went down to the marina and had a light dinner at the Ocean Club. The food and service were good as was the ambiance, Kim had a steak wrap and I had the drunken fisherman stacker sandwich.

When we were done eating Trendy came by and joined us for a few drinks before we headed back to the hotel for an early night in anticipation of my morning flight. Unlike Norm, I like to return to the places we love, I enjoy getting to know an island and the people in a way that only multiple visits will allow. I’m happy that so many of you have commented on how much you have liked my reports, it’s really appreciated that you take the time to say so and makes the time spent writing them worthwhile. I’m sorry to say that next year I don’t plan on spending anywhere near this much time in the area, maybe the holiday Grenadines charter and about 10 days in St. Lucia, that’s it; I’m saddened that I just don’t see how I am going to make it to Grenada. The good news is that Skyelark has signed up for the world ARC and I have made my deposit for the first two legs; St. Lucia across the Caribbean Sea to the San Blas Islands then through the Panama Canal (Leg 1) and then some Cruising of the western coast to Las Perlas and off to the Galapagos Islands(Leg 2). Yes there will be trip reports and photos as internet connections allow; so either follow me on my next stop in St. Maarten or I’ll see you next year.
Cheers, Sammy
