So far we have continued to keep it a quieter vacation. Yesterday we spent a quiet day at the pool at Royal Islander, and had a quick lunch at the Tortuga. The food is always good, and pretty reasonable. For dinner we ventured over to Pizza Pasta. I really don't get how this place gets ''bashed'' here from time to time. It was a quiet evening in there last night...i ordered my favorite dish there, the lasagna, and my wife had the chicken cacciatore. Both dishes were FABULOUS, the service good, and the meal very reasonably priced. We have never been disappointed in this place, and still as pleased as ever.
Today, spent the day at Mullett. Overall, a picture perfect day there...fairly calm with a few larger waves every ten minutes or so. a nice breeze blew the entire time, so it was quite comfortable to sit for hours. Of course, being at Mullett, we had to do lunch at Rosie's...and once again I give Rosie's the BEST RIBS ON THE ISLAND. I really am still surprised to see that her prices have remained so reasonable. Five bucks for a dish of ribs...eight bucks with ribs and fries. A hot dog...three bucks.....a hamburger four. Most mixed drinks 5 bucks...and most cheaper beers two bucks....two and a half for a Corona. Today's trip to Mullett will be the first of many in our three weeks.
Tonight, It was a Topper's evening. Every year I look forward to the brisket, and once again....delicious. Was surprised tonight that it also was a fairly quiet night there. During the day there continues to be plenty of traffic, but so far havent seen any restaurant as crowded as usual. The biggest surprise I have noticed to date, is how far along the causeway really is. I have seen the pictures here on TTOL, but still too see as much done in such a short time, especially on the island was a huge surprise. I thought the idea of this causeway was ridiculous, but seeing where it is being built, I really think it will alleviate a bunch of the tieups into Simpson Bay and Cole Bay. I know from the Royal Islander it should cut out at least fifteen to to twenty minutes heading over to Grand Case or Marigot.
Tonight, we have had a few substantial downpours, but they haven't lasted more than five to ten minutes. The island can use a lot more, as it is ''more brown than usual''.
More to come.
