I don’t know the status of the mooring balls at Palominos today but for the past 20 years some of them were placed very close to coral heads a few feet beneath the surface and if you swing you’ll bump them.
It would be wise to double check

I stopped at Palomino twice in Dec.2018 - a good number of mooring balls - but certainly check them for chafed line!! - many local power vessels use them stern to - I also found the current had the mooring ball banging the hull - which took some creative work to limit.
i did not see any balls that would be liable to coral groundings but did not explore them all.
