I lived on St. Croix from '60-'68 & '89-'91, Visited in 2006 for a day. Lots of changes from the early 60's.
Lots of good things to see & do <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Joy.gif" alt="" />

ISLAND TOURS

Buck Island would be a 'Must See" as well as the "Beer Drinking Pigs" on Mahogany Road

Thank you! What are your thoughts on renting a car? Will I need one for the whole week or just a few days? We are staying near Christiansted

I second the "Buck Island" recommendation. The water is amazing. Renting a car for all or some days depends on how often you and your family like to venture out vs. stay put. Personal preferences. Lots to see all over the island. Cane Bay is a personal favorite spot of mine - west of C-sted. Great snorkeling.

Thank you. Yes Tan Tan is DEFINITELY on our list! I want to do some things that are more local and less touristy as well.

Just lost my previous post to you, but will try to remember what I said! Have dinner at Savant in the outdoor area. One of my favorite places to eat anywhere on the planet. Heard the biobay in Salt River is nice but have not done that myself. Spend a day at Cane Bay enjoying the beach, snorkeling and the fun places to eat and drink. Enjoy!

Hello Isak, My wife and I will be taking our first trip to St Croix in October. How far is the Cane Bay snorkeling from The Buccaneer? Access to snorkeling from the beach? Thanks in advance for any help! Bill [color:"blue"][/color]

bsilverfox, We snorkeled off the beach at most every beach we visited in St. Croix, always found something to look at! Including the beach at The Buccaneer. Definitely do the Buck Island trip, lovely place!

Also consider snorkeling the pier in Fredriksted. Have been to STX once or twice a year for the last ten years.
