Hello all world ttolers.
I see AnnTS report and others it prompted this post.
At some point planning a trip which definitely has Bangkok in it, ive been there before 20+ years ago. But, i want to see Cambodia and Vietnam. As im planning a trip which circumnavigates the globe by air, ive only dedicated a week to Bangkok and surroundings.
Can anybody recommend a quick but good route, method of travel to/from Bangkok. Things to see along the way.No looking for expensive in fact quite the opposite, looking for private accomodation (not hostels), clean, safe. Willing to do trains, buses, planes, walking. We like that to get in the mix so to speak.
Again, clean and safe. We’ll be heading to India and europe from here.

Wow, for a week that is an aggressive itinerary.
I'd decline to discuss Thailand as it has been 5-6 years since I was there and 10+ years to south VietNam (Hanoi & Halong Bay in September 2018).
As for Cambodia, I'd skip Phenom Penh and go right to Siem Reap (from Saigon if possible) and just plan a day or two doing the Angkor Wat museum and temples (Angkor Thom etc).
Flights are cheap between those 3 countries so I'd pass on busses based on your limited time. I think my flight from Hanoi to Siem Reap (vietnam airlines) was US$80 and from Siem Reap to Singapore on Scoot about the same)
In Siem Reap, I stayed in the heart of the CBD at the Cheathata Suites Hotel with rooftop bar/restaurant, private driver, and safe/clean for about US$50 a night.
I hope that helps a little

Wow, what a trip. Please post some pictures of Siem Reap upon your return. I was at Angkor Wat with my family in 1968 when I was only 12 yrs old. I'd love to see what it looks like today.
