Apparently is one way in the middle of Marigot, headed toward Grand Case. Supposed to be that way until August? I guess we're not picking a great time to spend our vacation on the French side, as far as traffic.

Was like that in May. Not to bad to negotiate going or coming back.

OK, thanks. I didn't realize it had been that way for a while.

Just a slight detour but if you are familiar with the streets it's easy to negotiate around to get back to the Dutch side.

Right now, there doesn't seem to be a large back-up going through Marigot, if you're headed toward the Dutch side. HOWEVER, if you're headed from Grand Case to Super U, DON'T!! Major PITA, as you get within a block of Super U and it takes easily 10-15 minutes to get back to Super U, because of other construction within Marigot. Went there yesterday, won't be going back. Fortunately, as of next week, the Super U in Hope Estates will be open, so no need to travel from Grand Case to Super U in Marigot.

Good luck. We had a back up on the way to Orient Village from the airport on June 4th due to road work by the athletic complex(?) and Super U. On the way TO the airport on June 11th we had bumper to bumper from Hope Estates all the way through Marigot. Took and hour and a half to get to the airport from Orient Village but there was no obvious reason(s) for it. No road work, no crashes, no police activity.

I THINK maybe they are done with work in Grand Case. We have gone through there several times, and no back-ups within Grand Case so far.

Carol, Carol, Carol....10-15 whole minutes in traffic? You must be used to a different thing in Florida, but in the Metro area that would be heaven! lol
We always take the water route through and around Marigot.
Hope your trip is going well so far! Do you like the villa? Who is preparing THE DINNER?!!!!!

Going very well so far. Just back from a lovely dinner at Le Piment in the Village. In for the night, as we are very boring...

We loved Le Piment last week. I had the blackened ribeye and my wife had the bolonase (sp). The ribeye was balckened with cracked peppercorn and cooked in maple syrup. The meal was awesome. Everyone there was so pleasant. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks bran! deputy--I would go back to Le Piment in a second, but don't know that we have enough days to do that! Back to the original topic of Marigot, we went through Marigot again this morning and it was again a PITA. We were fine until we got to the parking lot by Galis Bay and then it crawled from there through Marigot. Took a good 25 minutes from Grand Case until we left Marigot. Traffic is always worse on Saturday in Marigot? Also had a detour yesterday morning, going through from Orient headed toward Orleans, and a DIFFERENT detour coming back. You can't get there from here!

Carol, I don' know where Galis Bay is but say I am at the West Indian Mall in Marigot on the waterfront, I continue past O'Plongeir Restaurant all the way along the seafront past the gas station on the right until I come to a roundabout and go round it and turn left to GC for example and therefore miss so much traffic on the normal route through Marigot. (You probably know all about this anyway) Terres Basses to GC with a good run, about 20-25 minutes tops. Would also just love to visit Le Piment one day but just found the journey too long from where I normally stay and dont much care for coming back late at night. Also you say on the French side you are staying, where abouts if you dont mind me asking?

Pretty sure that's the Galis Bay road out of Marigot.
