We are going to Great Britain for 2 weeks in August for the first time.
For budgeting purposes,can anyone give us any insight as to the average lunches and dinners. We are not planning on eating at high end establishments.

Almost impossible to answer. Your idea of "high end" may be different from mine! I'd say a 2-course lunch for a couple, with a bottle of house wine, in a reasonable restaurant would be around £65. A 3-course dinner for a couple, with a bottle of house wine and coffee, would be around £100.

Some of the best food, and reasonably priced these days, is to be found in the pubs. Nothing fancy, just solid pub food. You won't go away hungry. In most you can probably eat for about 20 Pounds (can't find the pound sign) per person, including a drink and a tip.

I think you'd really struggle to find a meal for two with drinks at £20 in much of GB, especially anywhere 'touristy'. Typically a pub (not Gastropub!) main course is £8-10 and a drink is £3-4. We reckon on £30 for a cheap evening meal out (Hampshire).

Perversely, London often has better deals than elsewhere in Southern England, due to the competition.

I think you are agreeing with me??? As I did say £20.00 per person, including tip. Just as an aside, we were travelling through Norfolk, the Midlands, down through the Cotswolds to an area near Bournemouth.

I think you'll find a variety of food and prices on that itinerary, with probably the Cotswolds likely to be most expensive.
