We are headed back to SXM in November/December and were wondering what the renovation status is of the airport? Are the jetways back in service? Are all the check-in processes done in the building or are there still some functions done in tents? Basically, is it back to normal operation like prior to Irma and if not, when is it expected to get back to normal? We checked the previous threads but couldn't any answers.

No jetways in service, will not be before November/December. Everything is done inside the building now. As far as when it will be back the same as pre-Irma, I would say at LEAST another year.

we walked off the plane and walked into the far end of the building got our passports stamped in a quick second and we were on our way. Bags took a while to get off of one running carousel.
departing was very slow to get bags checked. no electronic stuff - more old fashion. security was no wait for metal detectors. departure immigration scanned our passport -- was quick. I suggest checking how many flights your airline has so you can plan for a wait to check bags, etc... AA could be an hour wait just to get to the counter.
