Bread or other food can be harmful to reef fish.

Fish are indeed wildlife, and shouldn’t be fed any more than crocodiles.

People have been attracting fish with bread forever, in the water off Orient Beach. Suddenly it is bad to do that. Come on people, live life and quit being so politically correct!

No, it has always been bad and this isn't about being "politically correct". It isn't good for the fish and it makes them aggressive and harassing. I understand the appeal, but do everyone a favor and leave the poor fish alone.

Since reef fish are part of the marine ecosystem that protect the corals it isn't being "politialy correct" its more like being responsible.

Thank you Jenni & Scubaman. I'm not sure what political correctness has to do with protecting our environment.

I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

The tourists did not start this feeding frenzy it was started by a local who brings a bag of bread daily to Club O Beach and feeds the fish. He sometimes has hundreds of fish following him and in front of tourists would pick up one of the fish and kiss it.

That guy does not feed the fish to satisfy the fish; it is merely for his own satisfaction! He needs to stop and do something else for his own self gratification!

Im sure bread isnt the best nutrient for fish, but since we are concerned dive boats and scuba diving is more harmful to reefs than a loaf of bread.

And...it certainly hurts when they bite the wrong body part. Few years ago I got too close to someone feeding bread and one of the fish drew blood. Scared the crap out of me as well as being very painful. I get out of the water when I see someone with bread.

If you just have to feed the fish pack and bring commercial salt water fish food with you.

I'm still so shocked by the "politically correct" comment.

It truly means, that they are extremely careful not to offend or upset any group of people in society who have a disadvantage, or who have been treated differently because of their sex, race, or disability. The abbreviation PC is also used.

This in regards to FACTS of marine biology.

And this is why I’m relieved to be a girl!

That said, my boyfriend agreed to go nude this time, and I would be somewhat amused if....😁

Not so sure of that. Girls have something to nip at too. Please excuse the expression.

Lol. I’ll most certainly be going Donald Duck style again so I think I’ll be safe.

You got it. Mainly because a shirt protects me from the sun, it catches sweat, and I can take a selfie as long as it’s from the waist up. Those naughty fish just became reason #4!

Again, please do not feed the fish. Small fish attract larger fish.
