On this trip we spotted a dolphin at Mountain Point and over by St John.

Today we swam with a dolphin at great harbour on Jost van Dyke.

Whoohoo! We swam with a pair at GH Peter Island three years ago, just about exactly to the day. It was the first time I had ever seen them in the BVI up close.

Careful out there guys. Two of my favorite moments were snorkeling in a fish krill ball, and my son swimming with a dolphin (with a youngin'). then I googled it.....
When the pelicans, tarpon, etc hit the ball, you are collateral. when you swim with Dolphins they can get antsy, they have HARD heads.
Pierced body parts and smashed hips are not cool.

I live in between Great Harbour and Little Harbour and saw a pair of dolphins under the house on Monday (29th) and again this morning.

That's awesome! It hasn't been common but we've seen them both on the way to Anegada (they swam off the bow) and coming from Anegada to Jost. That one didn't seem to want to play. frown

Hope you're having a great trip!

Thank you.

Sadly, it's time to go home.

Why is it that dolphins are relatively rare in the BVIs?

Our frequency of sightings has been increasing.

Actually there’s Dolphins in all the waters of the BVI and other islands.
Sometimes you’ll see schools of hundreds.

2 days ago we had a group of 6 or so join us for 26 minutes on the north shore of st Thomas. We were sailing from Magens bay to Water Island. It was awesome. My 2 and 5 year old girls were so excited.

Wild dolphins put a smile on ones face. The kids must have been thrilled.

Ha. I made it sound like only my kids were excited. My wife and I were thrilled. Dolphins are always awesome.

There used to be a pair that came into CGB on a regular basis. They would play hide and seek with the kids.

When we were there in April, there was a dolphin in CGB. He/she hung around the harbor for quite a while.

Does anyone know how to find that video from several years back of the kids playing with a couple of dolphins in the Bight? I believe it was Saidoggie and a couple of other TTOL boats. It looked like the dolphins were having more fun than the kids.
