I haven't flown in premium economy on Delta, but have on United and found the extra room on the transatlantic flight to be worth the extra cost. You can view the Delta seat map by entering the flight number on: www.seatguru.com

As Irish has suggested, take a look at seat guru for your plane, and you'll get an idea. For what it's worth, we just flew to Rome on US Airways and, like you, just couldn't spring for the business class fare. We were surprised at how much legroom we had in economy. I think they don't cram as many seats into those planes that are making the longer hauls. We weren't uncomfortable at all. Again, that's US, not Delta, so your mileage may vary...
