On Google, the northeast corner of Cruz Bay, near the old seaplane ramp, looks uncrowded and possible for anchoring during C&I check-in. Has anyone tried that? Is it too shallow?

We have anchored there (caveat: we have a shallow draft stink pot) and got stuck on some chain. What it was doing there, I don't know. Had to maneuver a bit, but it was okay. I think sail2wind likes that spot, so maybe he will weight in...

FYI - some charter companies red-line Cruz Bay because of the pitfalls to be found there.

I believe Twanger is correct on the charter red line. It's a tight anchorage, maybe 3 boats, but super easy sticky mud. Don't use a whole lot of scope.

Evan - you have exceeded your quota on received PM's. Tried to send you one, but got that message.

I guess you need to clean out your in-box?

That area is actually part of the National Park zone. They allow boats to anchor there for up to three hours to clear in C&I. Stay longer or overnight and you will get a citation - $75.00 plus the $15.00 overnight park fee.

It is fairly shallow but good holding.....

Safe and enjoyable boating.
