It would seem this would be a high priority for both sides to build some new technology shelters to deal with the wind speeds and pressures and be ready for next time.

Are there any conceived, started, or finished?

I don't know whether any of them are new. Perhaps an island resident can comment.

Nothing new, and half can't be used until AFTER a storm.

Interesting how the collective mind focuses money/energy on the future and positive, daily living rather than a future bad and fateful day.

And this is why many people don't go...."PETS - Shelters do not accept pets. You should make arrangements beforehand to have your untied pets secured in a room at your home, with sufficient water, and food for at least three days. Do not leave dogs and cats in the same room."

I know that even here during the extreme heat and they opened cooling stations...people would not leave their animals at home, especially the elderly.
