Staying there in February for a few days. We are staying in the Shoal Bay beach area and have been

there for day trips before. Just wondering about a good care rental and what else is there to do and which restaurants

would you recommend.

Thanks

There are soooooooooo many great restaurants on Anguilla. Some of our favorites are, Veya, Jacola, Hibernia, Straw Hat, Sharkeys and Sunset Lounge for cocktails (@ sunset) in the 4 Seasons. Elvis' bar is also a fun time. Enjoy!

There are quite a few car rental places to choose from- we haven't had a problem with any we have used. I would say to use one of the local ones, like Junies- We have found if one doesn't have the exact car you want, they will do their best to find it for you. Not sure your style- but as mentioned, there are a TON of good restaurants on AXA. For Shoal Bay- Sundays are fun- scratch bands and BBQ at Elodia's and Gwens are fun. Mederiman (sp?) is also right in the "middle" and is a good spot. Slightly off the beaten path and very good are Lime Keel and Falcon's Nest not too far away from Shoal Bay in Little Harbour. Also, along the way are Le Bon Pain (great breakfast spot) and Ben's. Our trips to Anguilla are not complete without a afternoon and evening at Bankie's and some great BBQ at Ken's (BTW- the sushi truck in the parking lot is also very good as well). We are more on the casual side for sure, and these were all our favs.

Thanks, we once rented a car from a guy we met on the ferry. I'll google around and get one.

Lots of good restaurant suggestions already. You should give us some more info as to location/price and we can narrow it down.

For car rentals, Ronnie Bryan is absolutely the best. He will leave a car for you at the ferry dock.

I agree about Bryans Car Rental, locally owned and operated, first class service. They have a car lot at the ferry dock where you can pick up and drop off, or they will deliver to you. https://bryanscarrentals.com/
This page has a good listing of restaurants by price and also location:

Sunday is Funday with various bands playing around the island, if you will be on island on Sunday, do see a few, they are all terrific.
Happy planning,
Ellen

We are staying at the Fountain Residence in Shaol Bay. I'd like some close but a drive is not out of the question.

How are the taxis on the island? Just in case I want to have a few adult beverages.

Thanks

Taxis are great, but very expensive especially if going from one end of the island to the other (fixed rate/schedule which you can find online).

Some good restaurant choices in the East End are Falcon's Nest (casual seafood), Artisan (pizza) Ben's Pit Stop and Le Bon Pain (bakery/breakfast), Also there are 5-6 beach bars with food on Shoal Bay East (daytime only, for the most part) - Elodia's, Uncle Ernie's Madeariman, Hank's, Tropical Sunset, Gwen's).

No shortage of great restaurants on the West End - - much wider selection, just need to know what you are looking for.

Thanks, we have been to and enjoyed all of those beach bars during our day trips. I'm looking for nice dinners with a view. Not burgers but a nice dinner.

Great unsung spot is at Four Seasons, Half Shell, on the Barnes Bay side of the property. Check it out to watch the sun set.

Ember is wonderful with a fabulous food and terrific view, high up, ask for an outside table.
There are many others, Jacala, Blanchards and Straw Hat on Meads Bay.
Mangos on Barnes Bay.
Trattoria Tramento on Shoal Bay West.
Dolce Vita on Sandy Ground
All very good, all ocean front with great views.
