One more question on options for hopping around a little. i see that there are powerboat rentals available on Tortola. Do these 23' - 25' power boats handle fairly well in between islands or are they mostly intended to just say near shore? For example, is it safe to travel across to JVD from Cane Garden Bay or West End? Is it safe to travel to the Baths from Trellis Bay? I've got quite a bit of experience on a boat here in Minnesota, but not in that kind of open water.

Regards!

We took a 22' or 23' center console from Camanoe to the Baths and as far West as Monkey Point in 2012 or so. We waited for a good weather days and left pretty early when we had calm seas.

I have rented 22' boats from west end , nanny cay , leverick bay to the baths , saba rock , and jost.van dyke without a problem . That said weather or sea conditions should always be checked before leaving

I agree with the above. Boats that size can handle the 2-4 seas. After that it gets dicey. I would always bring a quality hand held VHF radio.
