We are planning our second safari, this time to Botswana and Victoria Falls via Johannisburg. We want to connect with a first rate Safari Company to handle all details of our trip?
We went with Micato when we went to Kenya and they were superb. But, now I am retired and there seem to be many high quality, less expensive options.
Does anyone have an outfitter they can recommend?
We have been talking to The Africa Company, African Odyssey and African Adventures. So far, African Adventures has done the best job for us.
Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

We used Fish Eagle Safaris when we did africa quite a while ago. They also only specialize in Africa and did everything we required and answered all of the questions, etc we had.

A second vote for Fish Eagle Safaris. We recently returned from a Botswana trip and were very pleased with their service.

Trip report is in the works!

Fish Eagle was very responsive. Just waiting for a proposal. We have also been impressed with the Africa Company. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Eric and Michael - we agreed to book with Fish Eagle today. Bert has been great to work with. He has us in three premiere camps in Botswana and a lodge at Victoria Falls. His price is very competitive, which made it an easy choice. We are going this coming January - the Green Season.

We are sailing in the BVI as I write but enjoying the safari planning as well.

Again, thanks.

Let us know the camps, although it has been a long time since we went, we still remember it very well.

Here is where we are right now:
Victoria Falls - River Club (may change)
Botswana - Vumbura Plains, Kings Pool and Jacks Camp
Cape Town - Westin (may change)

We're flying British Air in pods - used miles to upgrade. Fly in to Johannisburg but not staying. Transferring same day to Livingston/Vic Falls.

Have you had experience with any of these?

Mike--we went to Savuti, Little Vumbura and Mombo in Botswana and the River Club in Vic Falls in 2004. Our trip reports are in the Trip Report Archives, in you want to take a look. Some things have changed, I'm sure, but it was a magnificent trip! Glad to know that Bert is still in business. We were very happy with his services.

mdoyle, not to seem uninformed, but are you talkng about a hunting safari? I realize that photography safaris, sightseeing, etc are common, but I would personally be interested in finding out about hunting safaris myself. I have no idea where to even start with it, but if that is what you are looking at, then I could contact the same outfitters that others have suggested.

We went on a photography safari. I won't tell you what my opinion is of hunting safaris. Wilderness Safaris only has photography safaris, as far as I know. Bert at Fish Eagle, I think, also only handles photography safaris.

Sorry, but I'm the wrong guy to ask about killing these beautiful animals. The only thing we shoot is a camera.

kill the animals then not many left.
A rifle, a 1/4 mile and a scope= not sport.

we also used wilderness safari, well pleased.
