Our trip comes to end, but not before we check off the last few things on our want to see and do list.

A great day and a great way to end a week on the French Riviera.

Take a look as we bring to an end (finally) our adventure on the Côte d'Azur!

Tom,

We did that walk a few years ago in time to make the guard change, but just in time. Our friends still refer to it as the Battan Monoco walk! I knew there was the elevator someplace, so we did find and use that for the way down. Loved the sidewalk respite for the ambiance, even though the food was just OK. But of course, you had great foodie experiences on this trip.

Thanks for sharing.

Well the next trip is back to Italy in April. On a European Travel Board that I also participate on had a drawing. You had to submit a travel report and each entry made you eligible. We submitted the report on Malta. When they did the drawing we did not win, but someone from Australia did, but could not accept the prize so we were 21 in a contest that had 20 prizes. When they backed out we won. Ironically, when the contest started Janet and I picked 1 through 5 of the prizes if we won. The prize we got was Janet's first choice and my second. So we are headed to an organic farm 20 km north of Siena with three Chianti wineries within walking distance. La Aiolina

I have died and gone to heaven!

So the plan is to do a Catholic Haj to Rome for 4 days and then head to the country and drink wine and eat good food!

jphart - Not sure I would say a foodie experience.
Yes the lunch in Eze was a LIFETIME experience!
And should not and cannot be measured against the rest of the week.

We found the food in general on the French Riviera confused.
Italian with a French twist which was... ok.

Cannot complain about any meal, but as our household joke goes...
I will not take off my clothes and run around the house hooting about how wonderful the meals were.
BTW-The older I get Janet appreciates that the sprints are few and far between. laugh

Good Food! Not Memorable

Your upcoming trip sounds great, 21 lucky number! We are talking about a BVI charter this summer to celebrate our daughter's grad school finale....but also trying to figure out the next over the pond location? I plan to retire again in April, so we'll have more flexibility in when we travel. Seems the best values are always when I'm needed at work!!

It appears both of us will retire in our house next year. Hopefully, Janet in the Spring and me in the fall.
What we have found is the best deals are last minute (i.e. 3 or 4 weeks before) on our Europe excursions.
Austria, Spain, and our last one to France were all done 5 weeks or less before.

Jealous of your sail plans. Have you ever thought of doing down around Guadeloupe & Marie-Galante?
We never sailed there but really enjoyed our time on island.
But understand the BVI desire - Sometimes some place new is exciting and sometimes returning to the known is the best.

As for your next foray to the continent - NW Spain
We are going to make a wine drinker out of yet. dine

New places have been exciting over the last few years. Funny thing, we want to go back to most of them, but not sure it would have the same feel as the original trip? Driving the Ring Road of Iceland is probably a must do again! We did move Matt's (MATRIX) boat by Guadeloupe a few years ago and stopped in Les Saintes, beautiful area.

I tried full retirement for 16 months 3 years ago, was very content for the first 9-12 months then got extremely bored after a year. Donna is still working and until she decides to retire I might get bored again if I'm not creative, will have to see this time. I missed out on several boat moves while working again, hope those opportunities exist in the future. She travels quite a bit for work and this time I plan to go with her, anywhere!

Wine? Spain? Yes!
