We are finalizing our itinerary for a long awaited trip in February. The charter currently has us overnight in the Bight on Sunday. Is this still a local's night? I've read in the past things can get pretty loud and raucous on a Sunday. Let me know if this can be a concern, and what alternatives would you suggest for an overnight at Norman Island.

It does get raucous, but what puts me off is that multiple go-fast boats are often tied up to the Willy T with their engines running. The noise and fumes are pretty obnoxious.

Personally we’ve always had fun at the Willy T, regardless of how raucous it can get. We just pick a mooring ball further away. If you want to avoid it entirely, but still be at Norman Island, then you can pick up a mooring at Privateer Bay or Benures Bay on the north shore. Last December we were sailing west between Peter Island and Norman Island and noticed 8 or so balls in Benures Bay. We had never anchored there previously. It was windy, but very little swell and we had a quiet, comfortable night. Very close to the Indians if you want a morning snorkel before the crowds show up.

It isn’t hard to avoid - just choose a spot away from the WillyT

went there for 1 Sunday night last year

Go back to boat and wake up late to hear 2 groups of locals fighting on WillieT. They then take it 2 boats racing the mooring field chasing each other. I turned every light on the boat on and brought out the flashlights to make sure they didnt run into to us

Fortunately the field was pretty empty...

Needless to say Sundays may be for church but not ol Willie T.../

it does close at 1000...it was later than 1000 and it was mainly locals and a couple of boats

The locals were a different Willie T experience for us...

You’re not in Kansas, the Willy T starts early, they have the lunch crowd they pour strong drinks and everyone gets bombed then they have the late afternoon and early evening crowd and the same happens and by 8 or nine everyone is toasted.

We have had a lot of fun at the Willy T over the years and will return, have seen everything from "normal" bar vibe to the extreme on different days of the week, One trip a bartender was smitten by one of our young crew members, drinks flowed, and he started asking her what boat we were on so he could swing by after closing, she told me she said she didn't know the boats name.....she's a smart young lady!! Good try bartender!!

LOL...we have been there many times. Only one experience with predominantly locals

and your description is spot on...
