Hello everybody! Our vacation ended and after 14 glorious days we finally got home safe and sound.
We flew out of sxm on Wednesday at 15:05. The flight was on time. The WestJet crew told us that they are fulfilling their obligation to the ticket holders and will be coming to sxm to take people home. The pilot also mentioned that there is a plan in place to evacuate people from the island but he didn’t know or say any details. The flight was fine and we landed in Toronto around 10pm local time.... Here is a scary part: There was absolute nobody who actually was checking passengers for any symptoms of CV-19. Not in sxm when we were boarding/departing, not in Toronto either! There were lots of people lined up to the customs and all we saw were a group of 3-4 soldiers handing out flyers on what to do if you feel sick.
No screening whatsoever! That is absolutely sickening! Lots of people wearing masks.
The flight from Toronto to Edmonton was delayed by 30 minutes. When we were boarding, the flight attended was distributing Lysol wipes to the passengers. That was it! But better than nothing...
To all you guys still on the island- good luck and God bless. I hope you find the way home safe and sound, just like we did.
I hope this madness will pass sooner rather than later.
Be safe everybody!

Glad you got back ok. My wife was surprised there was no screening on the flights I had.

KGB--you flew out on Wednesday? That's today. Or do you mean LAST Wednesday? Or yesterday? Anyway, glad you got home ok.

Once you decompress a bit, would appreciate hearing some about your trip, as we all here will apparently be traveling vicariously for a while... cry
