Trip Report June 1-14, 2013
Day 1 Arrived at Voyage after an effortless flight from DFW/MIA/STT. Dolphin picked us up at the airport, whisked us off to Red Hook, and we sauntered over to West End. They checked us in and then took us right to the dock where Galeaux was waiting on us. We unloaded our bags, unpacked, and provisioned the liquor CC had delivered. Time for dinner. Had reservations at Fish n Lime. It was wonderful. Great fish, great company, good times. Being so tired we all went back to the cabin to get some rest.
Day 2 Got our briefing in the morning from Alex. Although we have chartered many 50’ Voyage, this one was a bit different. I guess they all are. Absolutely gorgeous! While the guys did the briefing Riteway delivered, and us gals stowed the provisions. Kinda hectic, it always is, but we gotter done! I really liked Riteway and will use them again next year. Headed out to the Willie T. I had brought a smoked brisket, made baked beans and tater salad. We ate drank and sang our lungs off. I changed into my jammies to head to bed…but NO! I was escorted to the “T” anyway! Lot’s of dancing and laughing. I was surprised know that there is now a SPA on the Willie T. Something about getting whipped cream rubbed on you makes you feel really firm in the morning. LOL! (Jammies always on!)
Day 3 Headed to White Bay! Had a wonderful sail over and got a ball right away. Ran as fast as we could to see the gang at the Soggy. Shaneek and Winsome were there and we enjoyed many hugs all around. Weather was gorgeous and we enjoyed baby back ribs with a homemade guava mango BBQ sauce. Delicious!
Day 4 Couldn’t imagine not having another day in White bay. Met some friends, played on the beach, and just kept it leisurely Made a wonderful Italian Omelette for breakfast 10 lbs. of New Orleans BBQ’d Shrimp for supper with garlic bread We made it an early night.
Day 5 Set sail to Scrub Island. Had to motor as the wind was out of the north. Made the cut and had a slip reserved Plugged in and we headed to the pool bar to relax and enjoy a few cocktails.. Planned on dining at Davide’s but it was closed. As we lounged by the pool Davide walked by and we all enjoyed many more hugs! He invited us to a pig roast that night on the North Beach. It was amazing! A beautiful beach with a bonfire. Mojitos were flowing and they had the whole pig laid out to carve. My favorite part was the cheek. Let me say that no one left hungry! Went back and enjoyed a few more cocktails before lights out.
Day 6 Woke early and enjoyed the wonderful showers at Scrub. Set sail to North Sound. Weather was again, gorgeous! Found the perfect ball at Saba Rock. Made Fish Taco’s with Asian Slaw for lunch and then we piled into the dinghy and headed to Smerelda Yacht Club. Pulled up to the dinghy dock and walked up the path. I must say the landscaping is breathtaking! Walked into the pool bar and was greeted by Joan with a huge smile! I must say that this resort is absolutely gorgeous! The infinity pool, the cabanas, the conversation pit…..amazing! We all ordered cocktails that were prepared perfectly. Complimentary appetizers kept flowing. The staff was attentive to our every need. Loved the pampering! Stayed a few hours and head back to the boat. Had dinner at Saba and then lights out.
Day7 Headed over to Leverick for the day. Called Nick and got a slip. Perfect! We did some reprovisioning and I took the afternoon to do my laundry “island style”. By that, I mean you load the machines and while you are waiting you relax in the pool with rum punch and enjoy the view! Wish I could do laundry like that at home! Got cleaned up and headed to the beach for the BBQ and the Jumbies! Danced the night away and had a ball! Great 2 days in North Sound!
Day 8 Headed out for Anegada. Winds were from the north so we had to motor. Brought out the mimosas and enjoyed it the whole way. Lots of balls available so we hooked our favorite, and held one next to us for Rob and Lee who were arriving a little later on Eyes Of The World Grabbed a taxi and bee lined to Cow Wreck. Bell was in Florida, but I got to talk to her on the phone. I hate I missed her. Had drinks went to Walkers and we planned a dinner party for the next night. Back to the boat to freshen up and then a HUGE lobster dinner at Potters. I ordered three extra so we could have some for my recipes.
Day 9 Lobster Eggs Benedict for breakfast. Loaded up a TON of provisions and head over to Walkers. Hung out at the beach all day and then Walker fired up his cement block BBQ grill and we lit a fire with wood from the island. Cocktails and wine were flowing and I made jerk chicken, pork tenderloin and mahi on the grill. Had some great salads and there was PLENTY! Walker fixed us up to do some shark fishing in the evening and we caught a nice sized one! About 10 we all headed to Potters and threw down until 2 a.m. I left both of my brain cells on the dock. LOL! Great day!
Day 10 Headed out early for Jost. Got into White Bay early and snagged a ball. Partied the day away at The Soggy. Put the ring on my forehead and hooked it first try! This ole gal has still got it! Made a pit stop to One Love for a Bushwacker. Met up with Karen and Glenn Richard and just laughed our heads off! Corsairs for dinner and they had lionfish on the menu. I’m always up for a challenge so I ordered it, and LOVED it! I really recommend! Another wonderful day.
Day 11 . Rob and Lee arrived from Anegada and today was their anniversary! We had planned a huge party so I spent the morning preparing. Made New England Lobster Rolls for lunch. Went to the Soggy and had a heck of a party! Met up with Kim and Walt and invited them to join us that night. Met Capt’n Bob and his family and invited them, too. Great decision! Went back to the boat and grilled ribeyes for everyone and all the sides. Brought out the Chateau Montelena and cranked up the music. I’m guessing we had about 18 onboard and it was FUN! Can’t post any more about it! LOL!
Day 12 Got up early and head over to Great Harbor to get water and ice. Walked into town to find Ivan. I can’t go down without seeing him and hugging him. There he was, on the front porch at the grocery store. His sweet eyes lit up the moment he saw us. He is having more health issues and it is hard for him to stand. Broke my heart, but we had a wonderful visit and he is in my constant prayers. His sweet wife and granddaughter were by his side. Sailed over to Norman for our last night. I cooked everything that was left and went to the Willie one last time. OOOOHHH WEEE! Prolly shouldn’t have done that!
Day 13 Headed back to the Voyage Dock. Cleaned the boat and packed the suitcases.  Had the ferry trip from hell, but we are all tired of reading about ferry trips from hell, so I won’t write about it. Ended up at the Island Beachcomber and had reservations at A Room With A View for dinner. I can’t compliment them enough! The food, the service, the atmosphere, and the VIEW were all amazing. Try to go if you have the opportunity.
Day 14 Had a late flight so they let us extend the time in our room for no charge. I love The Island Beachcomber. Went to the bar and and got to watch a Fly Boarding exhibition! They could have charged us for it! I was totally blown away! Loaded up for the airport and came home.
So many other funny things happened but I just can’t write them all. Another great vay cay!!! Sad to be home but excited that my daughter is having TWINS any day now! That will take my mind off of the islands for a week, anyway!
