Does anyone have any personal experiences to share about Little Beach and how it compares to Club O Beach. Just canceled our 2 week July trip to SXM.

I actually don't know anything about that beach, but if you're planning on going in July this year, I'm not sure whether you can go without a quarantine. As of now, anyone who arrives by June 30 has to do a mandatory 14 day quarantine. It is not clear whether that rule will be eliminated come July 1 or not.

Little Beach is a short hike over a small hill from the main beach. It gets crowded later in the day and especially near sunset when a lot of people like to party. It is nude with everyone very polite when we were there. Everyone kind of keeps to themselves, unlike at Club O. Shade is in the trees away from the beach. It is worth visiting if you are in Maui!

Thank you, Carol. I did not know that. I'm glad I asked.

Maria and Steve--thanks for the info.

Roger and Beth--As I said, the current order only goes through June 30, and I don't know what the status will be after June 30.

Not many c/o opportunities there, but it seems right now the only close islands to the US that are open to tourists, are the USVI, and for whatever reason, St. Croix seems the most open to tourists. I only know this because Eric's brother is going there in a couple of weeks.

Little Makenna Beach near Kihei. Like another has said you have to hike up a hill and go back down. When we were there a local gentlemen held vigil there at the to atone for our sins and make us feel a little guilty. That was many years ago. It was a mixture of clothed and nude and as I recall quite a few young people then. No facilities, then, so bring your food and drink and something to sit on. An umbrella would be a plus.

Not even close to the beauty and relaxation of a yellow umbrella.

It is very different than Club O beach... You have to park at Makena State Park and walk at least a half mile, climb a pretty steep, sandy hill to get there. I think there is an area to park that is closer, but we didn't see/find it. The area is very beautiful, but as has been mentioned, there are no facilities there and you must bring whatever you want/need. The vibe is very different that Club O beach with an average age probably half of what you would see at Club O and a kind of "hippie" feel to it(not that there's anything wrong with hippies). I felt very self conscious there for some reason, as if I were "out of place" which I have never felt on Club O beach. Keep in mind, we were only there for one day, so I'm not sure how accurate my observations are, but if you're looking for a substitute for Club O, I think you're going to be disappointed. If you're looking for a new/different experience, Maui has a lot to offer, but nothing like SXM in my opinion.

Thank you everyone for all the information. It seemed like a good idea at the time until I learned of the travel restriction. There are a bunch of places available where we could use our Interval International travel certificate. We are trying to set something up for the beginning of July so unless Hawaii lifts the travel restriction within the next week, we are out of luck. So now we are looking into Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Beach so that we can check out Haulover. We have never been there. We just need to leave Ohio!

RogerandBeth--The beaches here in Florida are JAMMED, all of them, as of now. People from up north have kind of descended on us since the 1st of May, and locals are getting back to the beaches, after not being able to go for close to three months. And Miami is basically the epicenter of Covid 19 here in Florida. Perhaps by July, things will be calmed down some, but If you come to Florida, social distancing is probably going to be hard to accomplish... Sorry to seem to always be raining on your parade!!!

Sorry... As I suggested before, what about the USVI, in a private villa, if you could swing the cost?? I'm sure there are plenty of them throughout the islands that would be private enough for au naturel sun bathing....

Regarding travel to Hawaii, the following was posted on the BVI forum.

"The State of Alaska will be requiring a negative Covid test within 72 hours of boarding an Alaska-bound flight. Travelers who can't produce proof that they've had a recent test and that the results were negative will be given the choice of taking a test a the terminal or beginning a 14-day quarantine.

Hawaii is mulling requiring the same for a return to travel to the state. "

I did not look it up myself, but I assume it is accurate.

If the requirement is just to leave Ohio, there are several nice nudist locations in Indiana and Michigan. Mostly campgrounds with pools and rentals.

Actually, there are 4 C/O beaches on Maui. Have been to three of them. None are strictly legal (Hawaii state Lewdness code) but enforcement is almost non-existent unless a homeowner or a very persistent tourist files a complaint(s). Only one of the locations has homes overlooking the beach but it is also probably the nicest beach. Little Beach, Po'olenaolena both south of Wailea. Baldwin beach park near Piai (just east of park and not a bad walk), and another hard to get to past Hana.
I consider the walk to Little Beach (there is now a charge for parking in the Big Beach lot) a bit of a slog thru coarse loose sand with the climb up the cinder cone a tad challenging, climb down more so. Most days a good turnout tho. Surf can be tough at times.
NO services, porta-potty at start of trail from parking lot to Big Beach.
I prefer north Po'olenaolena, beautiful gentle sloping beach, waves not as rough generally tho bad at times and occasional undertow. Fairly easy walk over the hill, one short spot exposed to lava rocks and surf below, easy walk on sand to north end.
Not as much use as Little tho there are rumblings that the authorities may turn Little into a preserve and keep folks out - not sure. Generally a very nice mixed crowd from families, singles, younger to older. Again, no services. PP in parking lot.
Baldwin is nice and easy to walk to, surf is held down a bit by a reef a short ways out, tho can get quite windy. Steeper than Little and Po'o.
I do like the ocean water better, seems more refreshing. If you go from Jan - Mar you can see whales broaching, etc.
Hope this helps
Be well and travel safely.
