I have no idea what the number is in SXM. Anyone know? This link lists places they claim are hardest hit by the loss of tourism dollars. Really surprised they listed the BVI second there, as I would think that there are a lot of islands in the Caribbean where the tourism percentage of GDP is much higher. The number for Aruba seems very low, to me.

OK, which is higher than any of the places listed in that story. Still seems low to me.

Maybe directly but indirectly it has to be much much higher. My guess 80%. What else do they have? Ultimately About everything depends on tourism. You’d think they would stop biting and start kissing the hand that feeds them.

They are hesitant for a reason. We really need to get our stuff together in the states.

Agreed, they are hesitant for a reason, and we definitely do NOT have our stuff together here.. Our little tiny town has doubled from 30 confirmed cases, to 60 confirmed, in the past WEEK.

As more asymptomatic people get tested there will be more cases counted.

The the two of us were asymptomatic and got drive through PCR tests as they had excess testing slots. Both negative. Need to get as many people tested to get some statistical samples of what is going on where.
Clearly, if people only get a test when not feeling well the odds go up of a positive.

“Tourism drives Sint Maarten’s economy: in 2016 it directly accounted for 45% of GDP and 73% of its foreign exchange earnings.” This is taken right from the St Maarten Trust Fund report and is based upon 2016 data. The telling number is the earnings number.

It's not as easy as that article states. Believe me I live here. And the link to Map of sites doesn't work.

OK, and NONE of this has anything to do with the original topic. This one is done.
