It has been years since we last were in Vegas... Plan to travel by taxi this time.. wondering about tipping protocol, for example, we will taxi from the airport to a hotel on the strip ... How much of a tip should we plan on ? Also, we plan a taxi ride down to The Stratosphere, not sure of the tip ? Thanks for any assist.. We want to do right, but not over do ! Carol from Mass.

$5.00 for the airport to the hotel, $2.00 for everywhere else - have small bills - they never seem to have change, most take cash only.
Have a great trip.

Carol, One tip someone gave me a heads up on prior to our last trip to Vegas was to tell the cabbie at the airport "no tunnel" (vs surface streets) to the strip. It can add approx another $10 to the fare unnecessarily. Our fare via surface streets was about $22 (w/out tip) to the strip and about $13 (w/out tip) on return (6:00 am).

I tend to over tip on short rides, ie couple casinos down just because I feel they might be losing out on a normal fare.

One restaurant suggestion that was made to me here was Mon Ami Gabi on the street level of the Paris Hotel. Although it was pretty cold that night, we sat out on the patio which has heaters. The food was delicious and we could have sat there all night watching and listening to the fountains at the Bellagio across the street. I apologize I don't remember who suggested it here. It may have even been Ellen or Berne & Gary ??? Regardless, thank you if you read this. It was one of the highlights of the trip.

Have a blast and win big!
