Unless having a phone was required just so you could be in the Caibbean, forget the time-stealing device and enjoy your get-away.
You can't take it with you, so leave it in the Caribbean.

don't rent a phone, buy an unlocked phone on eBay for $30. We have used our unlocked phone all over the world. All you need is a sim card and buy some minutes, best way to go.
