I happened upon this site, which is a thermal spring resort near Munich, Germany.

It looks great. Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of this destination?

Thanks for pointing this out. Munich was definitely on our German itinerary and this looks like a good place to spend a day.

Is it naturist? It doesn't look it, judging by the website.

From what I read there is a whole section of the water park that is a nude spa area with saunas treatment and pools. Must be 16 and up from what I read. Pretty good reviews on tripadvisor and I'm sure there are many other places in Germany. This one seems like a us water park with "added features"

Received a private message from a seasoned Naturist and German traveler. He told me that these type of destinations are quite common and vary in size. He has lived in Germany and remarked on the non-issue with nudity in that area. My neighbors don't know that we travel to naturist destinations. It's probably better left that way, as explanation would certainly not work. That's too bad.

We were there last April. The placed is fantastic. In the nude portion where most of the saunas are you must be nude in the saunas and pool. Most people(90%)had robes on when lounging or walking around. Easy to get to. Take the S2 train from Munich. I think it took about 40 minutes.

We were there mid-week and the place was packed especially later in the day.

Thanks, Don I sent the link to a friend that used to live in Germany. He said that there are places like this all over, not as large but with similar facilities. He also said that the Germans are not concerned about nudity, it is a non issue. Is there a recommended hotel?

We stayed in Munich. Tripadvisor would have a list or hotels in Erding. There are also some hotels around Munich airport that offer shuttle services to the Therme since it is not far from the airport. We stayed at the Sofitel right beside the train station in Munich. It was a beautiful hotel and worked well for our touring around Munich. Not cheap though.

Don, thanks again. We tend to plan our trips in advance, so it will probably be 2015 before we get there. We are going on a textile New Year's cruise, with three other couples from our nudist resort, then to Hidden Beach in April. Then we are going on an Oceania Cruise in Europe in May/June.

We are arranging another textile cruise with our non-nudist friends (please don't tell) in February 2015. So it looks good for Summer 2015.

Therme Erding is a great place to spend a few hours or days. The small town of Erding provides a wonderful location of shops and restaurants. Stay in Erding or Munich. People are very friendly and most can communicate in English. The Therme itself provides just about any type of water experience you could desire. From the clothed water park to the nude saunas, spas, and pool - you won't be disappointed.

sounds encouraging. How big a town is Erding? Rather than commute from Munich, maybe Erding would be a good 2-3 day "small town" German experience????

Type "Therme Erding" on Google maps for a reference.

It's a short drive from the Munich airport and very convenient if you are staying at the Kempinski hotel. Although we visited in late August a couple years ago, this resort should really be an attraction in the winter.
