Our 4th visit to Virgin Gorda, with a day on Tortola at the end:

Where we Stayed:
Guavaberry (4th time) - as always, perfect for us - Tina & Valerie are wonderful, the beach is fun, and we made new frequent stayer friends (who gave us grief b/c we only go every other year)
Quito's Olde Works Inn - helpful staff, icky room

Activities:
Snorkel trip: all day with Double D - great group, 4 snorkel sites, lunch on the Willy T - highly recommended - say hi to Corrine and Natalie!
Dive trips: husband did 2 with Dive BVI - always does - it was really rough the second day, but he loves it. Had a eagle ray swim right under him (1-2 ft away). Spotted a Blue Goby, which is listed as "not in BVIs" in the guide book, the divemaster was going to submit it as "very rare in the BVIs".
Beach/boulder/snorkel time: Spring Bay and Savanah Bay. We had a few really beautifully calm days for snorkeling and swimming, and a few rough days where just bobbing in Spring Bay could make you queasy. Saturday the 13th was amazingly rough. Waves were crashing over the boulders at the Crawl on Spring Bay. We went to CGB on Tortola that day for our last day/night, and it was fairly empty - only a few brave souls getting into the water - my husband sacrificed his watch to CGB when a nasty wave got him.

Dining:
Georgio's table - the best - food, atmosphere, service, wine list - everything was done right - get the chocolate demi soufle!
The Restaurant at Leverick - awesome tuna & steak, good service
Mad Dog's - best BLT and cold red stipes...ymmmm..
Mine Shaft - chicken rotis were tasty
Biras Creek - good, but not as good as Georgio's or Leverick for the $
LSL - pricey, without the ambiance & service of either Giorgio's or Leverick, food not outstanding, overall, not worth it
Flying Iguana - always good to see Puck, power went out, but he cooks with gas - fun night, food good
Quito's Gazebo - really slow service, decent food
Chez Bamboo - always good.

Notes: We spent our last night on Tortola b/c we couldn't book at Guavaberry and thought it would be interesting to try something different. We agreed that we never need to do it again. I have to imagine that CGB can be pretty when the swell doesn't have it all churned up, but the day we were there it was ugly and trashy, and I have no desire to ever return. It was everything that I wouldn't want in a beach (too commercial I guess, and I can't imagine how it looks when when its crowded). Of course my favorite beach on VG is Savanah, where I go when Spring Bay gets "crowded" in the afternoon, so I guess it just depends on what you want out of a place. The Olde Works Inn was not nice (very worn, musty smelling, no breezes, thankfully A/C, just a cheap old motel room). Made me appreciate all the more the wonder that is Guavaberry smile

We met two TTOLs on the beach - hi to Beach Chair Lady and (can't remember your screen name (ziggy?), but we met at Savanah Bay smile )

Now, the most important part: My search for the perfect Mango Daquiri, all good, but listed by preference:
Little Dix (also priciest)
Mine Shaft
Quito's Gazebo
Myett's
The Restaurant at Leverick Bay

I have to reset my trip counter... sometime the first of March, 2006 frown

Any questions? Thanks to all who helped with my Tortola questions - <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Umbrella.gif" alt="" />
