Wanted to let those of you who are headed to Guavaberry for the first time know about our experience.
In a word...it was awesome!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />
It's a very special place. The view off our balcony literally brought tears to our eyes!! The atmosphere is very relaxed, the commissary was very convenient to have for grabbing quick or last minute things (they're prices were better than in town). The setting with the boulders bougainvillea and cactus is really stunning. Spring Bay was a perfect way to spend a day and did spend every evening watching the sun set until we couldn't see our daughter in the surf! The cherry on top is Tina!! She was a great help before the trip and while we were there, there was nothing she didn't respond to quickly, efficiently and enthusiastically. We just loved her! It is very easy to understand why Guavaberry's return rate is so high!!

Other highlights:
Mahogony car rental was great. The car was at the airport when our Air Sunshine flight arrived. We did the paperwork and were off in minutes. Upon leaving, we just left it in the airport parking lot with the keys in it!!

Double D - went on a snorkel trip with Captain Dave. We went to Peter, Caves, Indians, Willie T for lunch, Rhone on the way home. Very relaxed pace. He moved on only when everyone came up and was ready to go! No "you have 20 minutes to snorkel this"!! I don't think he cared if it took all day and all night. For stessed out people always going at a frantic pace this was a nice change!!

The Mineshaft...we'd never eaten there and loved it so much we went back the next night. Tuesday night is all you can eat baby back ribs and it was terrific. The prices are very reasonable and the view is spectacular.

Disappointments:
Giorgio's...we'd eaten there several times over the years. My mouth has watered for an Anegada lobster pasta dish I had last time. I was disappointed in my meal. It wasn't bad...just no where near worth the $32. My husband had the lobster ravioli and enjoyed it. With a child, salad, desserts and two drinks each, our bill with tip came to $200!!!!
We cooked at home the next two nights!! It was much tastier!

Air Sunshine comments:
going over we left about 1/2 hour late and arrived only 10 minutes late. No problem.
on return we left 45 minutes late. They went to Tortola, then to St Thomas, we had to clear customs there and then on to San Juan. We had no idea about this itinerary and wouldn't have minded but it made us an hour late getting to SJU. This left us only 40 minutes to go through immigration again, dash passed customs again and go to the Delta ticket counter. Which was a mob scene. FYI - you must have your luggage screened at an agricultural x-ray before checking in. (Delta and Air Sunshine do not have a baggage agreement). This added on time to back track. Once that was all squared, we went to the security line which must have had 100 people in it. I was pretty much frantic by this point. But once through that, we ran down the concourse and jumped on the plane with about 5 minutes to go! Not really sporting enough for my husband but I was covered in sweat and close to tears! It was kind of a crappy way to go home after such a chilly relaxed week. I'll either swim to San Juan next time or plan on several hours layover for a security net!!

Did I mention that my husband had no cell service for his phone or Blackberry? That is thee greatest gift we have received in a long time! A much needed and wonderful break from reality and his stressful job. I know what my heaven is going to look like...my view from Mango house at Guavaberry!
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
