I know that this is a frequently asked question, but I never paid much attention to the recommendations as we always spent our last night in Roadtown. Now AA has changed our departure flight time from late afternoon to early afternoon and it looks like our last night will be on STT. I have researched the two Best Westerns, but the wife wants something more local, interesting, exotic and closer to CA for shopping and French Town for dinner. She mentioned Blackbeards and one I can't spell, Mahfoli, maybe? Anyway, any suggestions or input will be greatly appreciated, and I'll take notes this time.

Villa Olga (340-715-0900, http://www.villa-olga-inn.com/) in Frenchtown is inexpensive and on the waterfront. It's close to CYOA Yacht Charters, Oceana (4*) Hook Line & Sinker (3*) and many other good Frenchtown restaurants.

Be prepared to walk some steep stairs if you stay there.

Windward Passage close to downtown, rooms are ok, becareful downtown at night. Always enjoy Mafolie for dinner, rooms are ok. Frenchmans has a tender, to take you back and forth to CA. Green Iguana close but have to navigate the 99 steps. We always had to take a cab. Villa Olga is close to Frenchtown but last time we were there a group had gotten mugged walking back from Frenchtown.

Just got off of Villa Olga's web page. They are closed until further notice and are sending people to Bolongo Bay Resort.

Villa Olga is only renting long term now.
Windward Passage is the closest to both town and Frenchtown.
Having the beach available and the short ride or walk to the airport is a nice advantage of the 3 hotels on Lindberg Beach, Frenchtown and Town are a cab ride.
Mafolie Hotel is well above Town and a cab ride to anywhere else but a spectacular view.
Island View is about 1/2 way between Town and the airport but a cab ride to anywhere as well.
The guest houses in town are easily walkable to Town and Frenchtown [in daylight]
It all depends on where you want to spend the most time of your short stay.

You can't get more local than the Crystal Palace, nor more interesting than the innkeeper, Ronnie. The turtles make it exotic, too!

Bummer to hear about Villa Olga.
Very nice lady that ran the place the last time we stayed there.

check out Hotel 1829 - history - great view of the harbor - walk downtown - a little bar - continental breakfast - two pools!

Here's a couple of reasons we enjoy The Crystal Palace. Ronnie really does know everyone, he's a great host.

Agree with Hotel 1829; it has been quite a few years since staying there but it was a great experience.

Ronnie, we talk about how much fun we have with you. If Jay & Debbie did not have a spare room we'd see you more often!

Cheers, RickG

We were delayed in STT for three nights because of storm back home. Stayed two nights at Marriot Frenchmans Reef (never again). One night at Best Western Caribe by the airport. Great beach, No cruisers, awsome sunset beach bar. Wish we had found one of the hotels mentioned but we were literally in the airport with no where to go.

Thanks to all that responded. After much online research we have booked Crystal Palace...although...now that we are retired and vacations take a different approach, we may try some of the other suggestions. But Ronnie at CP got rave reviews.

Thanks Charlie. See you in May. Just sent you an email about your fight number for pick up. Just made an appointment with my doctor for a check up on that day!! If you are coming around 11, it will be okay. Not to worry though!
