Today was another day we stayed onsite. We spent a short time on the beach as it was very windy. Several short rain showers on and off through mid afternoon made us grateful we are at the villa today so we could dodge the rain and return outdoors as soon as it stopped.

Breakfast was at the new Creperie Café SXM in Maho across from the pharmacy. I had the Complete crepe with ham, egg, Emmental cheese. David ate the Savoyard : lardons, reblochon cheese, potatoes, onions and sour cream. Crepes/Galettes are glutton free made with buckwheat flour. A cold vanilla chai tea and blood mary for David completed our breakfast. We enjoyed the crepes and ambience and will return. BTW, he fresh grinds the coffee. The owner was solo this morning, so he was crepe maker, server and clean up staff but we did not have to wait long at all.

The airport wasn’t as busy as Saturday. We checked Princess Juliana airport arrivals so we could watch the bigger plans that came in. Air France, Delta, and JetBlue were some of the flights we watched arrive and or depart. Most of the mid to late afternoon was spent lounging at the pool.

We decided to check out Sandbar which opened in July 2020. They are closed on Mondays and have music 5 nights a week, no music on Tuesday. We sat at the bar which is big and had rum punches and shared fried calamari with wasabi glaze. The staff was very friendly and they were doing a good business. We didn’t get to hear the Reggage band as they were still tuning up. Sandbar is open from 11am to 11 pm. We really liked the location which is so close to Beachside Villas. The location faces the water right before the Morgan Hotel (formerly Alegra). It’s a very big area with sand and lots of picnic tables, high tops and more long counter tops. The food is cooked out of a large food truck and they were cranking out food. They have pizza, taco’s, fish sandwiches, sushi. The bathrooms are clean.

There is a security booth as you enter the parking lot asking for $5 but it says you park for free for Sunset,, Sandbar and I believe the hotel. Not sure what they charge for? There is the casino and a new place called Mykonos. I’ll have to pay more attention to the gate text as we can’t wait to go back tomorrow.

Dinner was at Fat Tony’s. We got the last table for two. They were very busy with take out and people eating there. We meet Fat Tony (not fat) and had a nice conversation. Very friendly staff and the food was so good. I had the brisket platter with two sides and David ate the philly cheesesteak which came with fries. I picked potato salad and baked beans as my sides. The beans were the best I’ve ever had and the potato salad was equally delicious. Brisket was good. David loved his sandwich and crispy fries.

Thanks for the report and the pics. We will have to check out Sandbar, since it is so close to Beachside! So it is reggae on Sunday night? Do you know what other types of music they have?

One night is Latin night, they have a variety of low key music is what we were told. They have a sign posted with night specials and music. I know that Tuesday is Taco Tuesday but Taco's are on the menu so you can get them every night. We hope to go for lunch tomorrow so will make note music venues.

OK, thanks! I personally would avoid Latin night for the music, although a good taco sounds good!

We love the Cupecoy area for low key dinners with all the many options available. Fat Tony’s steak night was a fun evening but we particularly enjoy their pizza.

Respectfully,

Thanks for that picture of Sandbar. Reminds me of BBB that is now closed. Will have to go there.
