Anyone able to point me to the 2021 St Maarten taxi rates? Coming in June and need transportation to Secrets (Anse Marcel) from Princess Juliana airport. Wondering if I should book via private transfer or just get any taxi at the airport as I believe taxi rates are the same to/from zone 8 (where Secrets is) Thanks, Walter

If you're talking about a private transfer provided by the hotel, I believe I read somewhere that it was a ridiculous sum of money, like $100 a person one way?? As far as 'official' taxi rates, that's actually not been my experience, that they abide by them. That trip to Secrets, I would venture will probably be about the most expensive taxi ride there is on the island. My guess would be about $40 one way, plus bags and tip. If it were me, I probably would just contact Wilfred Brooks via the link here on TTOL and ask him for a quote and then go from there.

I am actually talking about a private transfer service (non-hotel) So far one service wants $50 each way for 2 people.

If that includes luggage I think that would be reasonable. If you're not planning on spending everyday at Secrets you might want to look into rening a car for your stay. Lots of places to go and see on both sides of island and the taxi charges could really add up. Depending on when you're going, right now Sectrets is not totally open with lots of construction taking place. Many of the so called 9 restaurants on site are not open yet.

Wally--as Scubaman said, if that includes bags, it's probably not horrible. My guess was $40 plus bags. And it might not be a bad idea to rent a car at least part of the time..

you could checkout the website taxistmaarten.com, but it's been forever since they've published the rates by zone. They keep showing "New rates coming soon", but they've been showing that for about two years now. Carol's estimate above is probably correct at $40 USD. And, although you don't have to, I always tip the driver five bucks (because the majority of them are great and they've given me a lot of local advice over the years). Unless you are landing at PJIA at a real 'off' time, there should be a whole host of taxis to choose from. And, BTW bring cash for the taxis.
