We will have 3 day to spend in San Juan. Any ideas on places to see, things to do, or places to eat.
Thanks

We just got back from 9 days in Puerto Rico. Definately rent a car, price is very similar to the mainland US, and you need it to see anything. We enjoyed seeing El Morro and learning a bit of the history. The Rainforest was ok, was more of a cruise ship excursion. If you haven't just returned from the BVI's or USVI's you might want to head over to Culebra for the day. I flipped through the lists on Tripadvisor to find things of interest. By the way, the security line was rather slow at SJU, took an hour to get through. Usually we are in the Precheck line, but they wouldn't let us, something about the way I checked us in. We had a great time, have fun!

If you are in Old San Juan, just put on your good walking shoes and your pedometer. You can cover 5-6 miles a day easily just enjoying the forts, the waterfront trail, the museums, the squares and the old architecture. Oh, yes, the wonderful restaurants. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

My favorite spots: 311, Firefly, El Convento's restaurants.

Rental car to El Yunque - the rainforest.
If you like hiking, it's fantastic.
Bring rain-gear, snacks, water, good footwear.

Mark, the rain forest is amazing. sounds like you didn't really experience the waterfalls, rope swings, zip lining....

I was amazed how much cooler it was up in the high rainforest vs. down at the beach. Seemed like a good 10-15F cooler.

It is Twanger! I enjoy a nice weekend over there as a break from the heat and humidity in the summer here.
