Official announcement of the increased ferry capacity from 50 to 65 starting today and 2 additional trips starting June 1. New trip times are 11am BVI-STT and 2pm STT-BVI.

Personal recommendation is to not book the new times until after June 1 to confirm they are operational.

I spoke directly with one of the ferry companies and they also said not to book until after 1 June. They are trying decide who will operate on which days and they do not like the 2pm departure out of STT as they feel it will run empty.

I'll be happy when they start allowing the water taxis for the inbound trips. Especially if that happens before our 06/30 trip.

We arrive at 12:48 which should give us time to make a 2pm ferry but I'm tempted to stick with plans to use Dolphin even if it means flying over.

It will have all the people who missed the 4pm boat the day before or planned an overnight to on purpose to break the trip up.

To me, they should have had an 8am and 12pm departure from Tortola and a 10am and 4pm departure from St. Thomas so the same boat/crew could run the whole schedule each day.

Is this any different from the Press Release last Friday? Looks like they're trying to make last week's news new.

Or am I missing something in it?

The problem with 8 am is that folks from Virgin Gorsa cannot make that ferry. Used to have a 10 am ferry which works for the folks on VG and gets you to the airport around noon in time for the early afternoon flight.

A ferry from STT should be around 4 pm so it gets to Roadtown around 5pm in time to make speedy ferry at 6pm

The 8AM is useless for boaters also as there is no way to check a boat in and make a 8 AM. That time should always have been 10 or later.

Has anyone heard of any changes to the current schedule? Landing at STT at 2pm Fri 7/2 and Native Son no longer shows the afternoon ferry (or ANY ferries between Charlotte Amalie & Road Town for the month of July). Smith is showing 2pm and 230pm which are a no go for us. It looks like BVI Ports has only posted the June schedule so not sure what to make of it?

Why can't VG folks make the 8am ferry?

Can't you catch the 7am ferry from VG to Road Town and that gives you half an hour to then catch the 8am to STT?

The Smith's times are probably a typo. The ferries from Charlotte Amalie to Road Town are at 2:00 and 4:30 so based on your flight, you should book the 4:30pm ferry.

As far as I know, the July schedule has not been released yet so I doubt you can anything now.

Thanks Jason, 4:30pm was (is) the plan. Native Son was allowing July bookings last week so I was a little concerned when it didn't appear yesterday and started contemplating changing flights to go thru SJU to EIS. I'll keep an eye out for the July schedule.

The July ferry schedule was posted on BVIAlive yesterday and the July bookings are now available for Native Son.

If you take the 4;30 PM ferry from STT to roadtown, there is no easy way to get to Virgin Gorda as the last ferry from Roadtown leaves at 4:30PM. The have got to do better with the ferry connections.

FYI for anyone traveling on July 1, the 430 ferry from CA to Roadtown is sold out.

Strong tropical wave now expected In the area on Thursday. How would this typically impact ferry runs?

If it actually shows up and the winds get above 30 knots they typically shut down. Usually a tropical wave is brief, they move through quickly.

I looked at the forecast, right now calling for 30 knots max. They should run.

I called Native Son yesterday and the woman I spoke to seemed very confident the ferries would still be running. Will check again today.
