My three sons and I enjoyed another beautiful week in paradise. It actually went a lot more smoothly than I thought it would. I'm going to do a summarized report for a change.
Flights:
US Air through Philly both ways. Great flights down - had the entire back section of the plane to ourselves, so we all had a row to stretch out and take a little snooze enroute. Plus, I didn't have to worry about "spill over". Flight home was great until we got to Philly. Took an hour for our luggage to make it to the carousel. Then our flight was delayed almost 3 hours, so we didn't get into Providence until almost 1:30 a.m. and home until 2:45 a.m. Ugh. Tired puppies the next morning.
Eats:
We ate breakfast in our unit at Royal Palm every morning and packed the cooler with lunches for the beach everyday - so those meals usually consisted of Raisin Bran Crunch, Fruit Loops, or Pop Tarts, and bologna and cheese or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - fine dining for the kids.
For dinners, we went to:
Turtle Pier - excellent food and service and the kids loved the many critters along the walkway.
Cabana Beach Bar at RP - great food and the best staff.
Cheri's - HUGE disappointment. The kids liked the show, but the burgers were inedible and our server, "Star", was the most miserable, unhappy, downright depressed person I have seen in a long time. We'll skip Cheri's next trip and spend the $76.00 elsewhere.
Peg Leg Pub (twice) - delicious and wonderful, as always. Shawn, Linda and Jack always go out of their way to make us feel really special, and the filet mignon - out of this world!
La Gondola - Love this place. We went early so as not to possibly disturb anyone else dining there that night, but the kids were absolutely wonderful. For a while I wondered if someone had stolen my children and replaced them with angelic clones. The food, the service, the ambiance - all outstanding. Did I mention that I love this place? Definitely my favorite! David has a real jewel of a restaurant.
Beaches: Orient (very windy and Baywatch was closed - but, congrats and best wishes to Andy and Cheryl), Mullet, Friar's, Dawn - all wonderful and lots of fun.
Activities:
Contessa's pahty was a great time - met lots of new folks and revisited with lots of established friends. The boys played on the playground the entire time, so they weren't bored at the "big people" party. They also enjoyed playing with Tobey, the golden retriever.
We stopped in Marigot and had some yummy coconut ice cream from the little french lady. YUMMMMMMMY.
We went to the zoo, which was enjoyable, but VERY hot. Took lots of neat pictures of the critters and the boys had fun.
I got a babysitter for a couple of hours one night and went to the Dolphin casino and won $100.00 playing blackjack. I was pretty happy because I usually lose.
All in all, it was a wonderful week and it went by way too fast. I can't wait to get back.
