Not too much for me to add or change about Bill’s report. Jeannius is a beautiful boat and between her ease to work with and Bill’s teaching I learned a lot about sailing for my first time out, at least I think so anyway. I’m certainly not ready to go on my own yet but feel more confident in what I can do.

As to the situation with the boat difficulties on the first day my reaction was, oh well, it’s a machine after all and machines break. I told Bill that I didn’t care how long we stayed at the dock, we were in the islands and that was what mattered the most, plus it gave us an opportunity to eat at Spaghetti Junction, still my all time favorite restaurant in the BVI (thanks Shibon for the wonderful service).

Speaking of restaurants, I don’t remember the rush at Donovan’s but then again I had many PK’s at Bean’s show plus won a couple of his rum “shots” so I don’t remember a lot about that night. I do remember a very tasty steak but it all gets fuzzy after that. That being said, Karyl agrees with Bill’s assessment of the situation. Corsair’s on JVD is now my number two restaurant, Vinnie and crew did a fine job and the food was excellent. One of my favorite lunch spots is Peg Legs at Nanny Cay, doesn’t get much mention here on the boards but I would suggest y’all try it.

JD, as Bill said, we tried to pin Beans down on where he would be after June but he steadfastly avoided the answer, only would say that he will always be in the islands as he loves them but refused to say exactly where in the islands.

I managed to provide the crew with some fresh tuna one day (without a license, ) which they promptly ate as Sushi or whatever you call raw fish. Also caught a couple of other fish, which I released. After reading the recent posts I guess it’s a good thing no one saw me. Used a rod & reel with squid lures.

Had a great time meeting our fellow TTOL’ers, Sailor Rick and crew (thanks for the PK’s at Soggy Dollar ), Michelle and Al, Kimmers & Lew (beautiful home, thanks for your hospitality), TPCook, George & Reggie (Lavenda Breeze is another lovely house, thank you as well), Lisa & Roger . If I missed anyone I apologize. Also some of the locals such as Fitzroy at Quito’s (king of the island), and Alex at Cow Wreck and of course KC and Ruben at Soggy Dollar. We also were lucky enough to catch up with Joe and Julie from Patouche Charters for some quick chat. I don’t know if I should mention it here on the board but for all of you that know them, Joe lost his Mom while we were down there and we send him our heartfelt condolences.

Karyl and I very much enjoyed our first sailing trip with a great crew. For all you land stay folks like us, if the opportunity arises for a boat trip, by all means take it, it’s a totally different point of view. That being said, we still love driving around the island and in the future will most likely do combination trips whenever possible.

Photos will be posted on Web Shots soon.
