Just wondering is there any news as to when there will be movement to start to reconstruction of the Airport. We have heard many times that it will start only to be put on hold while some details are worked out. How can this government let this happen it is the most important source of income, The money is there,I guess the problem is who’s getting what ,in exchange to get this done. What I think there have 10 government changes since they won there independence, the question were they ready for self rule ? I can’t understand how they can let the beautiful building go this long, it’s the first thing that new people see when entering SXM . We have been coming to SXM since 1985 we saw the the old , but the new was very impressive ,come on government get your act together.

Actually, I guess the money WASN'T there, although SXM finally did get another tranche of money from Holland, so I guess it IS there now. I think the most recent statement was that additional work was supposed to begin this fall, after hurricane season. Soon come..

I can’t possibly believe that the main source of income people arriving at the once beautiful airport look at this and wonder why it is taking so long to repair . Since SXM gained independence there have been 10 different parties in charge were they ready for there independence I’m not really sure . We have been coming to SXM since 1985 two weeks each time for me I remember how it was but new people don’t understand the problems . Our wish is that at sometime soon they can get it right before the stay over get tired of the state of affairs ,please get it right

Thanks for your comments , however St.Maarten is not Independent just Status Apart since 2010. And yes Government wise we have had a lot falling Governments , but I personally think that this time they will complete their four years in Office.

IMHO!!! Someone or one's has pocketed a lot of money!!! It's a shame that this has gone on so long! It's embarrassing for those of us that knew what the building looked like before Irma for the first timers to see this for the first time!! I think many of us have seen the video of what is to take place for the rebuild. For me, it was all a lot of empty promises!
