we obviously got canceled last year but my wife and I are scheduled to take a group of students to Italy this March. We tour Venice, Rome, Pompeii, Florence and the like. What do you think our chances of going? If we get to go are the main attractions going to be open? You all be safe and have a great day.

I'd like to be a jelly fish, cause jelly fish don't pay rent.

A month ago, I would have said no worries! After recent spikes not so sure.
We are suppose to leave in late November and I am thinking we are 50/50 at best.
EU rumblings that they are going to close borders "again" to USA citizens not helping my confidence.

Carol thanks for removing my commentary...

Scurvy--I wouldn't even hazard a guess in this situation. Anyone who says they have any clue what is going to happen by then is kidding themselves. I thought we would be well on our way to being OUT of this thing by now and we are much deeper in now than ever before.. Make sure you buy cancel for any reason insurance, if you do it.

ScurvyD,

When this began, my nurse friend told me that pandemics take 2 years to run their course....say it ain't so was my reply....

This time we have the boost from a vaccine, so I like you am very optimistic that next spring will be somewhat like this spring was, slow and cautious opening up and clearing up. ( put out the positive vibes into the universe)

Just booked Malta to Athens Star Clipper for end of April 2022. I just have to have hope......... and yes feel free to call me crazy..... but I have to have travel plans, even if very far away...

Toast - hope you arrive in Malta a few days (week) early.
One our favorite places! Nice people, Great Food and Wine, and history everywhere.
Way way too many cars frown

Here is our blog from a while back: Malta

Diane... Hope you make it and think you probably will. Mediterranean countries are mostly desperate for tourist revenue so as long as your country lets you out, they'll probably let you in next spring. You must do a report if the trip goes ahead. I'd really like to do an ocean crossing on one of the clippers so I'd love to hear about your trip toast

Mike,

Thank you. This will be my fourth clipper trip, one in Thailand, two in the Caribbean. Truly a wonderful time and I do think you would love it. Very authentic and passengers tend to be more from European and very well travelled. Have met fascinating people on each. Very different from a routine cruise. it is not Jeannius, but since she is not chartering, it will have to do.......

Diane

p.s. Tell Jean I almost lost my earrings again that she shipped back to me, but luck was on my side once again !

Hi Diane

Good to hear that someone I've had the pleasure of sailing with has enjoyed several trips on the Clippers. Means far more to get a recommendation from someone I know than from random Tripadvisor posts.

I've never done a cruise, and most don't appeal, but I'd like to cross another ocean under sail (well at least part of the time) and these are probably the smallest boats I'll get Jean aboard these days!
