I was just booking a hotel in Orient Beach. The person I spoke with said that in order to be admitted to bars & restaurants on the French side, one needed to show proof of vaccination in order to be admitted and that you basically needed to carry around your COVID Vaccination Record. Is there any truth to this?

I for one have no issue providing proof of vaccination, but feel very uncomfortable carrying around my original record card especially considering the multiple adult beverages I can be known to consume.

I am not sure what is happening regarding dining out on the French side. We are pretty much just staying on the Dutch side this trip. I wouldn't carry around my original card either. Make a copy and show that. If it is not accepted, try some place else.

To my knowledge, that is not required as of YET anyway, for the French side. This is the first I have heard of it actually being required in SXM. It is required in mainland France.

According to reports on the St. Barts forum, restaurants in St. Barts are already requiring proof of vaccination before customers can enter or be served. For American visitors, the CDC card is acceptable proof, and is being accepted in St. Barts.

We just spent 16 days on the french side of the island. Ate dinner in no poarticular order at Telegraph, Trattoria and L Atelier and AlDente. No proof of vaccination was required at any of the mentioned restaurants. No such request at any restaurant we ate at on the Dutch side as well.

Why don't you take a photo of your card an have it on your phone. You can keep the original in a safe place and your phone will do the showing.
