Our grandchildren applied for their passports August 20th. They arrived today. We live in Massachusetts. I guess they are all caught up.

Wow, that's pretty good timing, even for the old days!

Do you know if they used "expedited service" for the passports?

from the State Department's own website, they are still showing long processing times in general.

I submitted my passport application (expedited) in early July and received it in less than four weeks from State Department's receipt date.

I submitted my passport renewal on June 30th, it was delivered to Passport office on July 2nd. I did not pay for expedited service. Per the US passport office website, i see they got it (or opened my envelope) on Aug 9th. I signed up for email and text notifications. I have heard nothing since.

Was really hoping to hop down for a visit in November...but...

MrTim

P.S. Also I think it is fun to note; I live in St. Albans Vermont, which has one of the few one day passport offices in the country... which I learned was an option on July 6th, the week after I sent my passport away!

That is an amazing turnaround time for a standard passport submission. Great for them.

It's weird, some people are getting theirs quickly, and some are taking forever.. Glad it didn't mess up a planned trip for you.

Glad you played the smart move and sent in for renewal well in advance. It takes most of the sweat and anxiety out of the process.

My wife got her new passport in less than 6 weeks after she applied on Aug 6. We paid for expedited service, which cut the processing time in half. We also paid for Express Delivery, which got her the passport delivered in a few days after the processing was complete. We left for Canada the next week.

My renewal took 14 weeks. I did not enter upcoming travel dates on the application. I wonder if that has anything to do with priority in processing. Just a thought.
