In all the times we have been to Virgin Gorda, we have never eaten at Coco Maya. We wanted to try them out in January but they weren't open the night we were there. It is in the plans for November. Does anyone know if you can dinghy over from the mooring field outside of Spanish Town to the dock that looks to be right outside the restaurant? If not, is it walkable from the Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor? Do you recommend it for dinner or do you get the same experience by doing appetizers during their sunset happy hour?

Haven't been there for happy hour, but the small plates are the best part of the menu so I think you'd get the same experience with the happy hour menu. It's in my top 3 BVI restaurants so I don't think you can go wrong!

I believe the dock is fine in the right weather.

On our last trip (4 years ago, unfortunately), we walked there from VGYH, and took a cab back. If you're going to walk on the road after dark I'd suggest having a flashlight, mainly to help drivers see you (but don't shine it directly in their eyes).

Dan cheers

We did appetizers and then dinner in June...would recommend you actually taxi down from Leverick (moor up there), hit the Baths in afternoon and then coco maya for appertizers and dinner

We will do Leverick the next night. Typically we do moor outside of Leverick and rent a car to go to the Baths and Hog Heaven. This trip we are actually skipping the Baths and instead we are going to take our friends to Valley Trunk Bay (they have already been to the Baths) during the day to check out the beach, etc. We discovered this spot when we did our trip in January and were checking out all the quarantine anchorages. Of course this is all weather dependent but I do want to try to finally get to Coco Maya!

it costs a bit of money but mooring in Spanish Town Marina is good, with electric & water on the quay. Then its a pleasant easy walk to the fantastic Coco Maya; cocktails at the bar , a chill to watch the sun go down and a great meal in the restaurant. We're always nicely full so get a short ride taxi back to the marina. I agree with @Jasonhelmbrecht it's a definite top 3 in the whole area but for us it's an experience thing a la a fab day on N coast Anegada followed by a S Coast lobster dinner.

Oh, we will definitely be doing this too! Hope to check out Ann's new place. Would love to get a report on Tipsy's once it is open. Looks like they are due to open on November 1st.

I’ve done the dinghy ride between the mooring field and Coco Maya. It is manageable but very, very dark. When heading back to the boat, watch out for the unlighted breakwater protruding west from the shore. I recommend dingy to the yacht harbor and walk if it’s light, taxi back.
