I'm kind of slow on the uptake, but it looks like you can travel from either St. Martin or Sint Maarten by SEA to St. Barts, with only proof of vaccination. But if you want to travel by AIR from SINT MAARTEN, you still need a compelling reason?

"Persons travelling from Dutch St. Maarten to St. Barths by sea must present their complete vaccination status" I wonder if this is for Island Residents only or if this applies to visitors/travelers as well (like taking a day trip) and if the same rules apply to come back to Dutch St. Maarten if you are vaccinated. Lot left to interpretation IMHO...

I would assume it means anyone needs to show proof of vaccination, local or not But it looks like to me there is a difference between someone going by sea or air from Sint Maarten to St. Barts. For travel by sea, so long as you're vaccinated, you're good to go. But if you're travelling by air, then you need a compelling reason, which one would have to assume would NOT include a pleasure day trip. Why a difference between sea and air travel doesn't make sense to me. But, if you're travelling from St. Martin, all you need is vaccination, regardless of whether you travel by sea or air.

Travel requirements should not be transport specific....driving, flying or arriving by ship...same disease and same protection

Here’s how Apple translates the St Martin/St Barth portion of the Prefecture’s post:

For travelers between Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, the same terms apply, whether by air or by sea.

Maintenance of compelling reasons for unvaccinated people from Sint Maarten to Saint Bartholomew

Travellers from Sint Maarten to Saint-Barthélemy by sea must:

• present their complete vaccination status

• and if they are not vaccinated:

• provide a compelling reason (professional, family or health)

• and carry out a 7-day isolation period upon arrival in the territory and a test at the end.

For travelers from Sint Maarten to Saint-Barthélemy by air, the provisions remain unchanged.

Bahston--sorry, which means what? Isn't that what I said, that the rules are different for sea and air?

The rules for French Side are the same for air and sea.

Based on what I’m remembering from before, the Dutch Side sea rules have been adjusted to match the Dutch Side air rules.

But I’ve been wrong before.
