We are apparently having more internet issues here at the Towers this morning since I already did this once and then I was kicked off line so here I go again.
Wednesday we spent an hour or so out at the pool, knowing we were ultimately going to meet Sharon Harris for lunch at Dreams. We chatted with the few other guests who were out there and just languished in the quiet enjoyment of what has become about our favorite island spot this trip.
Around eleven we headed out for Dreams in Nettle Bay. Bruno has done so very well with this place.....we fell upon it right after he opened here and we've been enjoying it ever since, today being no exception. We chose our chairs and umbrellas and just enjoyed! Wonderful beach furnishings, great food and the music of the sea......The sun is warm and the breezes intensify the sounds of the waves.....music to my ears and it just couldn't get any better.
Sharon arrived right on time and we had a lovely lunch, catching up on so many things. If I recall correctly, she had the French burger 'Americanized' and John had the club sandwich, each served with a very generous portion of what appeared to be hand cut frites....excellent, all. I had the five cheese pizza (cinq frommage - sp?) which was supposed to be for one. Absolutely wonderful but huge so half of it came home along with most of Johns fries to be served up later as reheats along with my left-over steak from Moulin Fou the night before.
It was great to catch up with so many things St. Maarten but eventually we had to say goodbye to Sharon, since sadly, she is not on vacation and had much still to do that afternoon.
We stayed at Dreams until late afternoon, having made a dinner reservation to return Friday night. Back to our resort for showers and cocktails and the big decision - where to dine tonight. The more we thought about it, the less we wanted to get dressed and head out so it was tapas at Chez Pat's.......reheat all the afternoon goodies along with steak and some fresh fruit......Aha! Life is beyond good and fast heading towards wonderful. So off to bed with thoughts of Thursday's game plan. More of the same? And I'm sure by now that equates to 'not much of anything' but how very good it is. Whoever knew that "not much......." could be so wonderful!!
Thursday was a pretty inactive day spent at the pool as opposed to those inactive days spent laying on the beach, and for those unfamiliar with the Towers, the pool here is a lovely place to laze away some hours if you have no particular agenda for any given day. There's always someone there at the bar to make a drink and Happy Hour runs from three to six so it takes the sting out of their eight dollar piña coladas the rest of the day. And actually, the girls make a mean burger lunch if you're so inclined and it's a much better deal than their non HH drinks. We wound down the afternoon wit a BBC and then back to the room to get dressed for dinner at Antoine's.
We were concerned about potential traffic this evening given the big parade and all, but we made it into town in record time and had a wonderful dinner. John had his lobster Thermidor which was, as always, incredible and I had a veal meunière (sp?) with sautéed mushrooms in a white wine sauce. Yummy dinner, delightful setting, and great company. It couldn't get any better.
Home again and to bed.
Which brings me up to finishing my Friday morning coffee here on the balcony. Today is our last day at the Towers before we move over to the French side of the island and the Grand Case Beach Club tomorrow so lots and lots to do today, but we'll get it done, I'm sure. And once again, another of those big decisions - this time, where to go for breakfast. And then it's off to do some errands and back to do some packing. Ah, the dreaded packing, and sadly, with the change of locations it will mean we get to pack up not once, but twice this trip. But I'm sure it will be worth the effort.
