Thought I'd post a few thoughts on our recent charter. Rather than give a blow by blow which nobody wants to hear I'll just provide some observations that might help anyone who might be visiting the BVI in the near future.

The ferries ran generally on time with no problems.

TMM is a fine outfit. Very efficient and well run and a convenient location. There's a Mexican restaurant right around back (I can't remember the name now) that was outstanding.

The cheeseburgers at Saba Rock were disappointing. At $17 a pop I expected a hand made patty at least and not a pre-made one. However the conch fritters were hands down the best and meatiest.

The best lunch meal we had was at the Willie T. Rare tuna steaks, yum. I thought someone said Zeus doesn't work there any more but I saw him there and even convinced him to let me film him yelling "NO BLENDA!" for my friends back home. They now have a frozen drink machine so he no longer needs to say this

I stopped at Ivan's and spoke with him for a while. Things are a little different there from the first time we went and it was an honor bar. Now they wanted a credit card to start a tab.

The Cyber Cafe in Trellis still has great sandwiches. However, I saw some locals eating ribs next to the grocery store and I had to try it. I had an excellent meal of ribs, potato salad, slaw and rice and a beer for about $12. That beat the heck out of our meal at Saba Rock (see above).

About the itinerary, since this subject comes up all the time on this board: We didn't decide our first destination until we left the dock. One day I changed our plan 3 times. We headed out intending to hit the bubbly pool and lunch at Foxy's Taboo, and ended up going to Sandy Cay and then staying for the night in Cane Garden. The weather dictated a lot of what we did since Sunday and Monday the weather was rather snotty and a few of my crew were "negatively impacted." By the time we made the first itinerary alteration all plans went out the window. The more time I spend in the BVI the less planning I do.

Oh yeah -- we had a great time!

There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
