Anyone been on a Cruise recently and had to attend the "required" Life-Boat drill? They usually hold it about an hour prior to sailing, and everyone "must attend". I was just wondering how it is held with Covid restrictions in place. Last Cruise we were on (two years ago and pre-Covid), it was really informal, no life jackets, and most reported to the auditorium for instructions in case of emergency. Do they still do them (they ARE required by the U S Coast Guard), and how do they handle the gatherings of large crowds in such situations? I'm sure they still have the shows most nights, so this would be similar.
We are leaving tomorrow on Carnival Valor for a New Year's Cruise, and just trying to guess what we have to look forward to.

On Norwegian it was vitural. They mailed us link and we boarded they asked if we watched the video. Worked for me smile

Thanks for the info TomB. Hoping for the same !! I'll reply with our experience when we get off the Ship next Thursday (it's a 6 day Cruise).

I just remembered that when we boarded and got our NCL card, we had one last check in thing to do. They directed us to the location, and when we got there they said this would be where we would muster for the lifeboats if required. Then asked did we watch the video, and did we have any questions.
Voilà it was done.

Stay safe!

Thanks. I believe the most important thing is to know where your muster station is, and at least walk to it at least once during your cruise to familiarize yourself with it's location. Most folks have trouble finding their cabin, and I can't imagine what their frame of mind would be if the "abandon ship" signal sounded. It would be mayhem for sure. Thanks again, see y'all in 6 days when we get back !!

On Celebrity and Holland, you watched a video in cabin or on phone/computer, then you had to report to crew member over a period of several hours
at your muster station and have your card scanned.

We just got back, and we had to report to our muster station any time before the Ship sailed. We arrived at said muster station at which time our "Sail & Sign" card (also used for cabin key) was scanned. At that time the crew member showed us the proper way to put the life jacket on, and explained what we had to do in case of the sounding of the alarm. Lasted about 5 minutes, and we were done and on our way. We weren't instructed to watch any video on the cabin TV.

Thanks - I had forgotten that you had said Carnival Valor. Interesting how Carnival is doing it differently than Holland, as well as from Royal Caribbean/Celebrity.
