Monday was a Mullet day. Got there early (10:15) and the beach filled up over the next hour or so. Drinks from Rosie’s, did not eat there. Dinner at Palapa Grill. Food & drinks were very good… hubs agreed the steak was one of the best he’s had in a long time. I got sea bass and we also got a coconut shrimp app. The service …. Not so good. We didn’t get our drinks until after the appetizer was served, even tho we had ordered them right we when sat down. We asked to see the wine list to try to order something prior to the main course but then no one ever came back to see if we had chosen anything. So, that was our experience there!
Tuesday was Indigo Bay Beach Club. Chairs for the day, free with lunch, a couple cocktails and just a lovely spot to relax. Lunch was Thai shrimp bruschetta, artichoke salad for me & cheeseburger for him. All very good - for those on a French Fry quest, these were excellent!
Tuesday evening met some new friends for drinks at Gizmos, then we separated and we walked down to Gingerbread Cafe at Belair for dinner. Calamari app, seafood pasta and seafood kebab. All very good!
Today maybe Friars. Still deciding, very windy so far but it’s still early!
Side note on traffic - to me, traffic seems light. No stand stills as of yet, no waiting in long lines of traffic, just moving normally. With that being said, there are definitely crazy drivers & the scooters… unnerving at times, to say the least!
Too bad about the dinner service at Palapa Grill. My DH still maintains the steak he had there was one of the very best he’s ever had on the island. Hope your day at FB works out - it’s another of our favorites. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and hope your traffic experiences hold up and continue for the balance if your trip. 🙂🙂

Glad to hear traffic is light on your side. On the french side, near Marigot, it has been as bad as we have seen. I think it took over an hour to an hour and a half to get from the airport to Grand Case on Thursday afternoon, yesterday it took close to an hour to get from Mullet to Grand Case in the afternoon. Cars were at a standstill most of the time, then creep forward a few feet, then stop again.
Lori--we did not have a good experience at Palapa Grill either. I doubt we go back. We've never been to Indigo Bay, as I have been concerned about the road to get there. Maybe next time.
We have never been to Indigo either. I heard when it first opened it was very expensive. People compared it to St Barths pricing. What was your lunch prices like?
Reference Indigo …. Beach has some rocky areas but they are very easy to see & avoid. Road is perfectly paved & easy.. a bit of a down hill drive, obviously, but a very nice road, and now gated. Prices, we feel, are reasonable. Nice padded chairs, umbrella & they brought a little table, free with lunch. We had an appetizer, I had a meal salad, he had cheeseburger with fries and tiny salad, 3 Moscow mules, one fruity cocktail, one espresso martini and a bottle of flat water with lunch.. I think our bill was $120ish - with 15% added ahead of what we boosted. Nice restrooms as well. We really enjoy it there.
At Friars now … as far as traffic, took about 25 min from Divi to here, even through Marigot…. Yes! Let out traffic luck continue!
We didn't have a good experience at Palapa either. Service was far from good,, and my steak i remembered was just okay. mediocre at best. For the price, i expected a lot more than what we received. Too many other places to go to, that i know will be much better. Doubt we will ever go back either.
Went once to Palapa grill, service wasn't bad, menu was just ok, nothing to write home about, big dent in the budget!! Now talk about one of the best lil finds on the island. Indigo beach and restaurant! We've been there a few times for lunch. Always amazing!! As far as price goes, I'm fine with it, from the excellent service to the fine silverware and plate ware. It's upscale, but brake the bank prices. Sylva and her staff are on top of every detail! We've referred our friends and they all came back and said it's on there "must" places to dine again!
Too bad reading all the negative comments about Palapa Grill. We have had good food and service with each visit so will have to rethink going there in April, though I tend to be fairly forgiving so perhaps I’ll give it another try. I do recall one of our group pointing out to me that the wine pour was rather on the light side for the price.
Also going to try David’s suggestion of Indigo Bay as I’ve heard good things under the present owners as opposed to when it first opened.

I guess we will join in --- we didn't have a good experience at Palapa Grill, but the owner came to our table and was very nice about it. This April we will definitely try Sublime, which we had planned to do. I'm sure it will be great, from all we've heard.
Actually, there are so many places and we still seem to have our favorites, that we love to go to.
We finally got to Yvettes and Gutside after years of talking about it. We had such a good time at both and the food was excellent. We loved the island atmosphere.
