We visited the Island from the 3rd to the 14th of June for 11 glorious days. Green Cay Villas remains our favorite place to stay and we were not disappointed on this trip.

Travel:
Took US AIRWAYS using frequent flyer seats from Hartford. The flights got us to SXM ok but we had many delays coming back due to weather. I guess we can't blame the airline but it took us 6 hours longer to get home than it should have. Got home at 4:30 am <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

Beaches:
There was lots of sand on the beach. Club O had 2 rows of chairs the entire length of the beach with room to spare. Orient remains our favorite. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> Also visited Maho (plane watching & SSBB), Mullet, Baie Longue, Happy Bay, Pinel & Dawn Beaches. With so many beaches it's hard to choose. We tried to find Baie aux Prunes but we drove around for an hour and couldn't find it.

Weather:
Early in the week it was very windy and hot. Several days we had showers but they lasted for 10 minutes, then the sun was back out. Near the end of our stay the wind died and it got really hot, so we just had to force more cold drinks down out throats <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drinking.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drinking.gif" alt="" />

Skeets:
There were more mosquitos this year than in the past. They drove us into the pool several times but that wasn't so bad. Anyone going needs to have insect repellant (make sure it contains deet).

People:
We met more TTOL people than on our past trips. On Saturday we met a bunch of people at Bikini Beach Bar for a couple of drinks and we ended up with about 20 TTOLers and we had a great time. We made many new friends and saw a couple of friends we met before. If I listed names I would forget some so everyone that was there <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thanks.gif" alt="" /> and the impromptu TTOL party was one of the highlights of our trip.

Food: <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />
What can I say the food was great as usual. This year we didn't do as many of the expensive Grand Case restaurants as in the past and we tried places that we haven't been to before.

Calmos Cafe: <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> This place has become one of our favorite places for casual dining. It's so relaxing being right on the beach with your toes in the sand. Good wine, great food, & great friends. Alex took very good care of us. On our 2nd visit here (on our last day <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Sad.gif" alt="" />) we met Eric & Carol Hill for dinner. It was great to meet you guys and we had a great dinner together. We found out how much fun we had when we went to get up to leave. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Hairy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Hairy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Hairy.gif" alt="" />

Mary's Boon: <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> We had a wonderful dinner on Thursday night; the duck was out of this world. Very quaint and a wonderful dinner. Fun sing-a-long before dinner.

Villa: We ate in the villa three nights on this trip. Once we got a boatload of ribs from Talk of the Town. Once we had steaks that we brought with us and once we got rotisserie chicken from Le Bounty. This chicken just melts in your mouth. We set up the table at the end of the deck and had dinner under the stars overlooking Orient Bay. What's better than that?

Capt Olivers: <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> We decided to try Capt. Olivers since we never ate there before and we had a great meal. There was a small band playing and we ended up dancing by the marina. Great choice.

Bistrot Caraibes: <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> We had a wonderful meal here. We all had the onion soup and all agreed that it was the best onion soup that we have ever had. Gail & Scotty had the rack of lamb and both loved it. I tried some of Gail's and it was really good and I don't usually care for lamb.

Baywatch: <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> We ate at Baywatch 3 or 4 times for breakfast & lunch. Andy & Cheryl are the best, every time you walk in you are treated like family. I can't choose what was best because it's all fantastic. Adrian took very good care of us and I vote him best waiter on the island. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thanks.gif" alt="" />

Le Fish Bar - <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> This was our first time eating here, but probably not our last. Good, casual, inexpensive dining within walking distance of the villa.

Repaire du Pirate - <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> Another entertaining evening with Marcel. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pirate.gif" alt="" /> Enjoyed the Mort once again. We got there just in time - he will be closed June 20 through September.

This is getting long so I will say that we had a wonderful trip. We keep saying that someday we'll get tired of SXM but it sure hasn't happened yet. As soon as we got home we were trying to figure out how to get back.
