We arrive in mid May. I attempted to complete the EHAS application, but rejected. Do I understand correctly that the application should be completed 3 days before travel?

Correct...WITHIN is the key work ...not completed BY three days before.

NO MORE THAN 3 days. The website should say that specifically and it doesn't.

We reply mid May also. The approval will be quick once you are able to put it in.
