This is a long-overdue report of a fabulous lunch I had with lady friends at La Villa Hibiscus, located at the highest point of the island (Pic Paradis above Loterie Farm). It’s run by a husband-and-wife team (Bastian and Sabine) and was at the time located in the home in which she was reared. In a former life, Sabine was a nurse; I don’t recall any of Chef Bastian’s history, if I ever knew it. Hibiscus’s address on their website is now showing the address of the former Sol e Luna so the move may have taken place (see discussion in another thread). I will check it out next week.

Six of us met at Loterie Farm but could not all fit in one vehicle, and we determined we didn’t want to try the drive in little economy cars. Thus, Sabine drove down in her SUV and gave some of us a ride while the others rode in the SUV of one of the island residents. The location was simply stunning with a panoramic view of the island. Some of that charm is going to be lost in their new location.

Lunch was five courses, pre-determined by the Chef. One of the group didn’t like fish so the main entrée was substituted from what had been originally planned. It was the only course that wasn’t quite as successful as the others.

This was one of the best meals I’ve had on the island and was also one of the nicest experiences I’ve had. The ambience and view certainly contributed to that, but the “ladies’ lunch” lasted a few hours as we were all enjoying ourselves and each other so much. We all loved the experience even though it likely was the most expensive lunch I’ve ever had. There was a base price for the five courses (now showing as 110 Euros on their website, which sounds about right) plus wine and gratuities. I think my bill came to a little north of $150, but I would do it again.

If you want a REALLY romantic experience, there’s a bungalow adjacent to the main house which can be rented via AirBnB.

Well, one disadvantage of the Attachment Manager is that photos are limited to 8 MB. Some of the pictures I took of the view from Hibiscus were too big to be accepted. Sorry about that.
