Good luck, Scuba. We always think an extra day or so on island sounds good. That is, until it actually happens and you have to deal with the inconveniences. Hope it works out to your ultimate satisfaction.🙂🙂

Good luck Scuba!!!
We finally got to SXM yesterday after the comedy of errors. I will post my extended epistle later.
Our initial flight out of Nashville via Miami on AA was cancelled. A fantastic phone agent named Ronnie got us rebooked via Charlotte. We had seats for Nashville to Charlotte and the pilot flew that plane like he stole it. We were 45 mins early!! We initially had no seat assignment on the CLT to SXM flight as Ronnie couldn't make the system assign us seats. We had to wait until we got to the airport. Well we went from spending the big bucks for spacious seats to getting the absolute worst seats on the plane. 4 hours in a seat AA should be ashamed to have on their planes. That was the most uncomfortable seat I have ever been in and I have been on some small plane, we travelled across N Arizona in a de Havilland Twin Otter prop that should be labeled as an amusement park ride and it was more comfortable!! And no refund from AA as they got us here. I guess they could have stowed us in the hold or strapped us to a wing and said the same. Oh well, at least we are here installed at Orient sipping Nespresso and the man is just off on a pastry hunt. Hoping for a beach day. Can't whine.... well, too much.😁

MIA had 135 cancelled flights yesterday and today is starting to look the same. As of 6am there were already 40 departures cancelled
Edit: 10a to SXM cancelled but 1pm is listed as delayed a bit....might have hope with that one

We saw those lines also yesterday, glad we weren’t in one of them. But weren’t you glad that your pilot had 35 years of service! Felt like we were in safe hands. Yes. That was cool. And that was one full flight so we felt fortunate to get seats just wish they had recline at least.

Guessing you still have your place since check out is usually on a Saturday, if so that is a good deal. Good luck, airlines are already stretched thin and then when you add weather or other issues beyond control it sure makes a mess.
I prefer the Isle seat

boucharda--yes, as of now, the second flight is still listed to leave around 1 PM, which if so, they should be boarding already. Perhaps Scuba can get on the return of that flight, IF it leaves Miami.

FatCat--at least you got there same day. Exactly Carol. The more I am reading the more thankful I am. But Ronnie at AA call center was the best most helpful airline phone staff we have ever encountered. We left a glowing review for him via voicemail.

The adventures of hurricane season. Hope it is a mild one. Locals seem to think it will be from what we have been told. Fingers crossed.

Scott--that seriously sucks. Why can't they get you there until Saturday? That's terrible.
